I used my own bridal wreath with veil and (silk flower) bouquet from 1990 and found the dress at the local AmVets. The rest is 'accident' makeup with plexiglass shards of glass for the face, and neck, one fallen false eyelash, ripped panty hose, plenty of scars and pinned to one shoulder a cardboard banner wishing 'Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom', previously charred with a lighter. Also strands of broken ribbon, and fake blood everywhere. Finally fake tire tracks across the back of the gown which I made with black fabric paint and a trimmed sponge in a tire pattern.

It was easy to find 'bride' costume jewelery, dipping it in fake blood as necessary. I concentrated a lot of the injuries to one side, even filing my nails jaggedly on one hand, scuffing up the polish - the other hand was still beautifully manicured and painted.

I brought my own plastic champagne glass and drank out of it all night. Basically I found a use for a lot of my own wedding accessories for this Homemade Dead Bride Costume.

I must have had an accident on the way to marry my groom! Just about a block from the church, the limo driver was not paying attention and crashed right into a tree. I was okay though, so I thought. I wandered around for a while until I finally stumbled upon my church. Everyone was gone and night had fallen. Fortunately, I lived only a few blocks away When I had walked in my house, I found my fiance sitting in the armchair crying out loud. When I tried to talk to him, he didn’t seem to hear me or even notice my presence. I took a look in the mirror and this is what I saw! I was DEAD!

I have had this Homemade Dead Bride Costume for 10+ years and it never seems to get “old”. The dress is a Jessica Mclintock dress from the Salvation Army. The make-up is just store bought Halloween makeup with some brown and black eye shadow. The white contacts totally make the costume. They can be bought online for a reasonable price.

Debbie and Jesi were a happily married couple until the infidelity. When Debbie found out what Jesi had done, she ran to bedroom nightstand to grab her gun. She wanted to make sure that Jesi would never make that mistake again.

Running down to the kitchen where Jesi was preparing their dinner, Debbie started to scream at Jesi "How could you! How could you do this to me! After all that we have been through! Your are going to pay. I will make you pay. And you will be sorry." Jesi saw what was coming and grabbed a knife out of self defense. After some screaming, Debbie forcefully thrust herself upon Jesi, accidentally piercing her stomach with the kitchen knife.

Being hurt in yet another horrifying way, prompted Debbie to pull the trigger. This automatic response caused a vicious war between the once happily married couple and unfortunately ended in an unconventional "Divorce".

This is our Homemade Divorced Couple Costume for acting out our "play" at Halloween.

My wife loves the life-size, animated Halloween decoration she calls "Grady" that she bought years ago so we set out to replicate it this year for our homemade dead groom and bride couple Halloween costume.

The coat and top hat were bought in a store in the Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. The vintage ruffled shirt and buckle boots were bought on eBay. The hair was from a local wig shop, the cane borrowed from a friend. The vest was made for me by a friend of ours and the jewelry bought locally.

The face and hand make-up was done by a friend of ours. All in all it was about 6 weeks in the assembling of the parts and then a couple of hours to get make-up and dressed.

Took the top prize at the Halloween party we attended. She was made to be my dead bride as you can see and she matched me.

I had the zipper removed and a corset lace up put in the back, it was in black. My stole was white I died it, the bow, and rosettes black, then hot glues the spiders on it. The vintage dress came with rust stains and I took the veil died it black, Spray painted the flowers on it and added some small red roses for color, spider webs, and some spiders. I made and tossed the flower to people in the audience.
