I wanted to be a cat for Halloween, but I had seen the glow in the dark costumes at stores and thought they were really cool, so thus the glow in the dark cat costume was born. The base of the costume in just a full body suit that my mom sewed for me, kinds of like the one-piece flannel pajamas you see in old movies…
Then, I bought 100 glow sticks off EBay for only $10.00.
The night of trick-or-treating, I activated all the glow sticks and put them together into lengths that would stay on my body. I also tied strings between the glow sticks to keep them from falling down.
I bought glow in the dark eyes and found glow in the dark paint. I painted my nose and whiskers with this paint.
While trick or treating, I brought a portable backlight to recharge my glowing face.
I liked the originality of my costume and my parents liked that I was visible to cars at night so that I was safe.

This homemade black cat costume I made for my granddaughter, and it was a huge hit! It was so easy and inexpensive to make.
I sewed MANY black boas on a black turtle neck shirt and also on black leggings (doing this by hand was a lot easier than with a sewing machine). She wore black panty hose under her black leggings and black ballet slippers. I purchased cat ears and a black cat tail at a local Halloween store.
I made a cat collar with ribbon, and a pink plastic heart. You could also use a real cat collar if you can find one big enough. I painted black whiskers and a black nose on her face. I would have put fake eyelashes on her, but she would not let me! You could also paint her fingernails black too.
This homemade black cat costume turned out great, people all around loved it! Also, it was cold outside, and she really stayed warm trick or treating.
Savannah Rose Panting as the Pick of the Litter Costume
This pick of the litter costume was a fun costume and very easy to make. I went to the dollar store and found a bunch of stuffed puppies and a Dalmatian mask. I took one of Savannah Rose's white turtle neck shirts and colored Black spots all over it.
I cut out the bottom of a box and made a sign that said PUPPIES FOR SALE. (I was going to put FREE PUPPIES but Savannah was worried that someone might pick her!) The box fit right around her hips and we fastened the puppies in the front. We also found a Mighty Dog food dish and cut out the bottom and fastened it to a bag. This is what we used to collect all the treats!
Savannah Rose had a lot of fun wearing this costume and she was definitely the pick of my litter.

This Cat Costume I went overboard with but I had a lot of fun. First I ordered a body suit(white) which I ended up spray painting (maroon, orange, yellow and black) as well as going over with permanent marker for detail on the outfit. I also sprayed some yarn which I sewed on the shoulders and used for the tail which tied around my waist.
I crocheted my hand warmers and leg warmers. The wig was silver originally which took forever to pin up and spray and then spray with the cans of same I used for the outfit. I used makeup from my kit and that made my Rumpleteazer outfit!
My 7 year old daughter LOVES stuffed animals and I thought it would be a great idea to have her dress as a kitty and try to find her pets a good home! This cool homemade kitty costume was very cheap to make and got rave reviews everywhere we went!
