Homemade Scorpion from Mortal Kombat Costume
At first, when Halloween was approaching fast, I couldn't think of what to be and then I started thinking of one of my favorite video games Mortal Kombat so made a Homemade Scorpion from Mortal Kombat Costume.
For my head- I used an old Ninja mask I had and made the mouth piece from cardboard, spray painted it, and made the metal part with some finishing nails.
For my torso- I used the reverse side of an old Ninja costume and painted it. I used black electrical tape for the lines, some leather for the belt, I drew and cut the symbol from paper then put it on gold spray painted cardboard. I used two layers of cardboard for the arm guards (base and outline) and spray painted the base black and the outline gold, and just wore a black shirt under it all.
And finally for my legs- I wore black pants underneath it all. I made the shin guards from two layers of card cardboard I just had lying around (base and outline) and spray painted the base black and the outline gold.
To keep the mask, shin guards, and arm guards on my body I used elastic but you could use string or any material that you can fit around your body parts.
It took me a week to finish with this Mortal Kombat Reptile Costume project. I used nothing but "foams" glue stick gun, and my airbrush machine to apply the green color on. I used foam because it brings the costume out, as you can see in the abbs part. I put my lil twist in to it but overall you can tell its a mk character. All the white stuff that's all over my body are glow in the dark paint. The pants are sean jhon i got them for 5$ at aj right lol. I was thinking on putting some snake eye contact on but they were tooooo expensive (70$)so i said forget it.
I stood out because I was really, I mean really glowing like green lantern; the reptile costume that everyone at the party was aware of the making. I uploaded each steps on my facebook page
I made the bodysuit of this Mortal Combat costume using a full swimsuit pattern with pink fabric. Then just sewed some black stretchy fabric and put as belt and attached to pink bought gloves.
The mask was just a painter's mask covered and hot glues some extra pink fabric. The boots I made some socks/knee highs that would slip onto shoe, making sure to leave a hole for the heel.
Then to the sole of the shoe I put some anti-slip stickers for shoes. To make sure the knee high stayed up, I wore some nude tights and put double sided tape to the top of the sock/boot so they wouldn't slip off. The weapons were bought from the dollar store and then taped with some chrome-like tape to make them look like real metal. The headband was some left-over fabric that I just wrapped around my head.

I asked my son what he wanted to be for Halloween and he said "Shao Kahn". We looked into this costume and thought we might not be up for the challenge. Between the hot glue, modeling clay, cardboard, and paints, this Homemade Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn Costume was many layers of work. It turned out to be great fun and took a lot of collaborative effort from the whole family.
We just kept adding to it, trying to get the details correct. We also call this the "Demon Samurai", because most people don't seem to know "shao Kahn" for Mortal Kombat.
