This Claw Machine Costume is my son dressed as a "Mr. Claw" arcade machine, which he loves to play at our local movie theater. We started with a large cardboard box and covered it with duct tape and then spray painted it green. We cut out the windows with a box cutter and added battery operated Christmas lights through small holes we made with an ice pick around the front window and covered each one with a ping pong ball to look like large bulbs when the lights are turned on.
We made "the claw" out of salad tongs, which we bent and then inserted into the lid of a laundry detergent bottle and secured with hot glue and then covered it all in silver duct tape. We added a smaller box to the front of the large box that was painted black and we put a start button and joystick on top and a sign that looks like a coin slot. We dressed my son up as a puppy (or grand prize) and put him inside with the other stuffed animal prizes. We added some casters on the bottom of the costume so he could roll around in it and not have to carry it all night.

Homemade Claw Machine Halloween Costume Idea
For this homemade claw machine Halloween costume idea I took a box and cut out the front and two sides. I then cut an opening in the back to be able to get in and out of the box easily. I put a piece of cardboard in the middle of the box and to the side. I then stuffed with stuffed animals that we all ready had. I made the claw out of a paper-towel holder covered in duct tape and made the claws out of cardboard covered with duct tape. Sprayed the outside black and put the treasure chest sign on and the colored bubbles.
I then dressed up as a cat so that I would look like one of the stuffed animals. I came up with this homemade claw machine Halloween costume idea because my granddaughters love to play the claw machine every time they see one. After Halloween they had a ball changing places in and out of the box and pretending like they were a claw machine. They are still playing with the claw machine costume!

First we started this Homemade Claw Drop Halloween Costume with 2 boxes, cut holes for his arms and a hole in the top of the big box for his head, then a hole in the bottom of the top box for his head.
Then I cut out a window for his face. I used gift wrap from the Dollar store and wrapped the boxes. Then I bought a pack of letters for $1. I used a little box and wrapped it for the money and button part. For the inside I lined it with foil to look like a mirror. I also used the foil to make the claw and taped it to the top of the box. I taped stuffed animals we had here to the sides and found a toddlers puppy costume and put it over his head so he looked like a stuffed animal.
It cost me about $5 to make, one first place at a contest and $200 on a online contest.
