My housemates and I go to the University of Winchester in the UK and our SU has themed nights most Fridays which we almost always go to and we always try to be original with our costumes and make them ourselves because it is often a lot cheaper and its fun! The theme this week was Harry Potter and we didn't just want to go as a witch or wizard- that's not our style, we love to be different! Then my housemate Amy had a brilliant unique idea- to go in Harry Potter Golden Snitch Costumes!

To make these costumes we bought some really cheap gold material from our local fabric shop and made different outfits so that each of us was a bit different. They were really simply made, we just cut out the fabric in the same shape as dresses we already had or just wrapped it around us and tied it! We then bought gold body/face paint and covered ourselves in it, put on some fairy wings that we had sprayed gold with golden hair spray then smothered ourselves in glitter hair spray.

To finish it off we all wore golden shoes and back combed our hair. We loved being Snitches and everyone else seemed to love it too!

Coolest Homemade Bride of Voldemort Costume from Harry Potter 6

Homemade Bride of Voldemort Costume from Harry Potter

Homemade Bride of Voldemort Costume from Harry Potter

I was not planning on dressing up this year but then, at the last minute, decided I would be a woodland fairy which would have been easy enough: a little green netting, a wreath in the hair, a wand etc. However, as the day wore on, I decided to revert to my staple costume, which is a witch, but I could not find any of my hats. Seeking to improvise, I caught sight of my cobra mask which I had bought at the zoo last summer.

The headgear is a petticoat or tutu slipped around my head, using the waistband as a headband and tied with black ribbon to hold it and give it height. I wore a black outfit, suitable for the office or anywhere, and a black wide-sleeved silk satin robe, one of which is usually in every woman's wardrobe. The scarves serendipitously matched the colors of the cobra head so I added them and voila! 'The Bride of Voldemort'. I had achieved a homemade Bride of Voldemort Halloween costume!

The character of the witch bride of Voldemort is inspired by the character of Voldemort or 'He who must not be named' from the Harry Potter book series.

Coolest Harry Potter Halloween Costume 5

Harry and Gang

Harry and Gang

This Harry Potter Halloween costume was the best ever. My friend Caitlin's (Harry) mom made the capes, ties, badges, and broomsticks. Harry just pinned up her hair to make bangs and bought black glasses. My roommate Emily was forced last minute to be Ron, and as you can tell she was thrilled to be in the red wig. I was Hermione, and just brushed my hair out.

Hedwig made her own mask and wings. Hagrid is actually about 5'2 while the rest of the gang is 6'1 and above (we all play volleyball).
