I created this Homemade Cruella DeVille costume in 2008. I LOVE Halloween and always start early, I wanted to be something scary and recognizable. So I started at Value Village and found a black satin sweetheart neckline dress, I bought it thinking I knew I would use it for something. Finally my Granny came up with the idea to do Cruella DeVille. So I set out to find the pieces.

I first went to Wal-Mart and bought the dalmatian material, because I knew it would be too hot to wear a fur coat all night. I pinned it in an over the shoulder shawl type style, then sewed it quickly. Next I went and got a red belt, red gloves and some jewelery. My friend had red shoes that I borrowed from her.

My biggest dilemma was the hair (I have blonde hair and my hairstylist forbid me from using the black spray because she was afraid it would stain!)... so I found a white bob style wig and my friend put it on his head and let me spray half of it with that black hair spray. Then I teased the heck out of it to make it stand on end. It turned out fabulous!

The finishing touches were the cigarette holder which I made out of a straw and taped a real cigarette to the end, and of course a dalmatian that I carried around all night! The homemade Cruella DeVille costume was a huge hit!! So much so that a friend of mine borrowed it and wore it last year!

From Disney's 101 Dalmatians this is a Cruella DeVille Mobile Child Halloween Costume and one very unlucky dalmatian puppy. They are riding in a DeVil mobile.

This is a family affair Gram made the costumes, mom fixed up the salvaged car, Papa mounted steering wheel and horn and dad was the muscle and pulled the car trick or treating.

Cruella's cape is hand-made with puppy print and red fabric. Gloves were purchased on Ebay. The dalmatian costume is a white sweat suit with black felt spots stuck to it and ears of puppy print fabric sewn to top of his head. He also had a collar with a home-made tag that said Lucky.

The car was found on the side of the road. It started out a pink princess car and was transformed into the DeVil mobile. I used red, black and silver spray paint. Put a painted toy dog as a hood ornament and DeVil license plate on back. Papa also mounted a steering wheel and a big horn on the car. Since it was a salvaged car it had no battery so I wired it to our wagon so we could pull the car tick-or-treating.

Homemade Cruella DeVille Costume

I made my zombie homemade Cruella DeVille costume as part of a themed fancy dress of horror Disney outfits. I simply wore a black dress and stockings, red gloves and fur coat.

For my hair I cut off pieces of a blonde wig, back-combed them and gripped them into my hair, then sprayed the whole lot white, I thought this looked a lot more effective than a wig (not to mention cheaper) and the fake hair colors much more easily than real hair. Make sure to backcomb the dark side too.

For the dog I cut the toy open, stuffed old stockings with the dog stuffing, then dipped that in fake blood (red food colouring plus corn/maple syrup is cheaper), and re-stuffed the dog with his entrails... pretty gross haha.

I used liquid silicone on my face, plus heaps of fake blood and white face paint, plus dark eyeshadow for my eyes. I cut holes in my stockings and rubbed fake blood on my legs, just to make it extra ghoulish! And voila, something altogether different for Halloween...
