Homemade Cruella DeVille Costume Idea

Homemade Cruella DeVille Costume Idea

The first thing (and the hardest thing to find)for this Cruella DeVille Costume Idea was the fur coat, very important for Cruella De Vil. We searched second hand stores and garage sales until we found just the right one for a good price—we figured it would have been ridiculous to pay hundreds of dollars for such an impractical coat she would never wear again.

Once we had the coat, the tight black skimpy dress (this one had no back, though it’s covered by the coat), gloves, pointy, heeled boots (not visible in picture), and black and white wig were not hard to find in a similar way as the coat. The wig was a better solution, but another option would have been to use black and white hairspray had we been unable to find one.

We couldn’t find a real cigarette holder, nor would she probably have been permitted to bring one to school, so we made one using black pens and duct tape. So long as she was delicate with it, it looked just fine, and she used small, rolled up white paper which she kept in her purse and stuck one on the end (held on by the duct tape) to pretend she was lighting up a smoke.

The purse was just a small old one we found in the dress-up box, wrapped in a piece of fun fur. Once dressed in all of these pieces, she used a very small amount of white cream makeup to make herself look pale, heavy eye makeup, and bright red lipstick to complete the look.

Coolest Homemade Cruella Deville and her Skinned Dalmation Couple Costume 12

Homemade Cruella Deville and her Skinned Dalmation Couple Costume

The Skinned Dalmation was all made by Terry Meeneghan. I hand sewed the white furry fabric, after I painted spots on it. The only thing I purchased was the long underwear I dyed the muscle tone of a dog. I hand drew on the long underwear the muscle structure of a dog so it would make sense as I was sitting. I then sewed the head piece to match the rest and made it with Dalmatian ears.

Cruella was mostly purchased thrift wear put together. I think this Homemade Cruella Deville and her Skinned Dalmation Couple Costume was a fun idea! I also made Cruella a Dalmation muff to wear that matches my costume's fur, complete with cigarette holder.

I decided to go for a Villain at my own Heroes and Villains party! The dress was easy and I added gloves and a zebra print belt. I made wrist cuffs and a long 'Dalmation' print stole I made from fun-fur.

The hair was the trickiest, I bought a wig originally but this was so naff it went in the bin - I then spent an hour back-combing and carefully spraying my normally red-brown hair black and white.

I copied Cruella makeup from the cartoon and added a fake cigarette holder! That's it for this Cruella Costume Design.

Homemade Cruella Deville Costume from 101 Dalmatians

Homemade Cruella Deville Costume from 101 Dalmatians

I was in a little thrift store in Guthrie, OK, last spring when I came across some white pumps with black polka dots. This inspired me to become a Cruella Deville Costume from 101 Dalmatians for our Halloween Bunco. I purchased Dalmatian colored fleece and made the cape. I found stuffed Dalmatian puppies at a local thrift store and the wig and cigarette and holder I found online. Everything else I found in my closet.

Hi there, any ideas on how i can get my hair like that. I have searched for a wig everywhere but im not having any luck.

I bought one white wig, that I plan on cutting to look like her hair, and then using the color hairspray, painting half black. Or take two wigs, black and white, cut in half and sew together

Awesome!

Loved your homemade outfit, I was wondering what to be this Halloween and you're outfit has inspired me. I wanted something that my two young grand-daughters could relate to and not be terrified of. Thanks

Cruella DeVille Wigs
by: Anonymous

I've found several of the half black/half white wigs at the local costume store. There are also several online if you just do a Google search for "Cruella DeVille Wigs". Sometimes they're called "Evil Lady" wigs or similar, presumably because Disney has the copyright on the name. For some reason the prices vary quite a bit... anywhere from $9.99 to $29.99.

I've attached a couple of links below for wigs I found on Amazon. Good Luck!

Cruella gets her coat
by: Anonymous

Cruella never got her coat, thankfully. The costume is inaccurate. I think it's always important to look at the messages were sending, especially to children. How about a costume that speaks more of compassion. There's so much animal torture and slaughter going on. Isn't it time to teach compassion? We hope the Cruellas of the world will never get their coats!

I bought a blonde 80's diva wig from a Halloween city. The brand was Franco. I spray painted half black and frizzed the hair. It looked great, my daughters were dalmatians - so we were a cute troop.

Cruella Gets Her Coat

Seriously? I was hoping since this site's population is mostly moms and teachers that the comments on here would not be as negative and rude as most other sites (ex youtube). As a teacher and mom of 3, teaching compassion starts at home and if wearing a black and white coat impacts a child to be less compassionate then the problem isn't the coat. Get a grip. The outfit is perfect! Thanks for posting it!!
