Homemade Reno 911 Group Costume

The three of us did some characters from Reno 911. This is our Homemade Reno 911 Group Costume. I was pregnant Trudy Weigel, my brother was Deputy Travis Junior, and my friend was Clementine Johnson. We either had or bought the khaki tops and pants (the girls bought Dickies brand shirts and pants - cheap - at Wal-Mart), and bought very cheap brown pieces of fabric for the "accents."

For Trudy, I just roughly cut the pieces to size and used fabric glue to glue them to the shirt pockets and the tops of the shoulders. I wish I had a cat pin for Trudy's lapel, just like the character! I have long hair so just had to pull it back to re-create Trudy's super short hair. We also bought brown ribbon and fabric-glued those down the sides of the pants. And as you can probably see the square outline, that pregnant stomach was just a sofa pillow tied around my waist.

As Deputy Travis Junior, my brother created the mustache using my black eyeliner, which was much easier than one of those "sticky" fake mustaches. Junior usually wears a bulletproof vest on the outside of his clothes but the closest we could find was a child-sized chest protector from the dollar store - which was hilarious in person.

We also all bought pre-made "Sheriff" packets from the Halloween store containing the sheriff star pin, nightstick, walkie talkie, handcuffs, and the important sunglasses. We also bought toy guns. For Clementine ("Clemmy"!), her shirt became more unbuttoned throughout the night showcasing a very fancy bra - very Clemmy!

All in all this Homemade Reno 911 Group Costume was pretty easy!

Homemade LT. Dangle from Reno 911 Costume

Lt. Dangle from the Comedy Central program Reno 911 was one of the most comical characters in 2008. I looked on the Internet for costume ideas and found many a LT. Dangle from Reno 911 Costume, but most were plastic and cheap-looking. So, I made one myself.

I started with cheap tan shorts, two sizes too small, from Walmart, shortened them, and added a brown material stripe down the side. The authentic law enforcement shirt was purchased on EBay for less than $20 dollars. I added brown pocket and shoulder stripes to match the shorts.

The shoes were black sports shoes I had. The patches were images from the Internet that I printed on iron-on, fusible print paper from a craft store and ironed onto a thicker material, then sewed onto the sleeves. The name tag is simply gold painted paper.

The gloves are bicycle gloves purchased for $14. The most expensive item was the authentic police belt with all accessories (minus gun, of course). I purchased it on Ebay for $70. I added LT bars from my Army career.

I grew the mustache myself, and, for the final touch, added temporary blond highlights from Sally’s to my natural (grown out) hair.
