Homemade Speed Racer and Trixie Halloween Costume
This is how I made this Homemade Speed Racer and Trixie Halloween Costume:
Speed – a white golf shirt under a blue golf shirt with the white sleeves rolled up to look like white cuffs and collar (already had shirts). White pants which we had to purchase from a scrubs/medical supply store (white men’s pants are hard to find)! Red socks, red scarf (strip of fabric), gold G on shirt made from felt. Helmet was made from an old kid’s bike helmet we already had, painted white with a red felt M glued on. It was so tiny it could not possibly be worn, only carried! We finally gave up trying to find pale yellow gloves and went with black ones he already had instead.
Trixie – Top I already had; dyed it pink, sleeves altered a bit and pink ribbons added at shoulders. Dark pink Capri pants, already had and pink flats, already had. Red felt M on shirt, brown wig bought 10 yrs ago at Good Will and pink bow in hair.
Only money spent was for white pants, some felt and some red fabric for scarf, maybe $30 total. Part of the appeal of this costume was that I looked totally different with the wig… I have super-short blonde hair, so most people didn’t recognize me as Trixie. The party theme was “Cartoons” and we won Best Couple.
My costume is Krabby from the epic cartoon show Pokemon. I first started making the homemade Pokemon costume by drawing out the shape on a hard cardboard piece I found behind a furniture store. I painted the cardboard. Pretty simple. I had to cut a hole in the middle so my head could help carry the over-sized cardboard. For the claws, I had to lace it with string so my hands could hold it without being seen.
My first impression about my costume was that, it probably will confuse people. Why is this guy dressed as a crab? So I called up my friend and told her to dress up as the iconic Misty from Pokemon. Even though she was an original character to the show that showcased her many years ago, I was pretty sure people would recognize her. I hope you guys enjoy my homemade Pokemon costume. Are there any other Pokemon costumes out there? If so, I’m interested.
I'm still making costumes for Max (see Franklin Turtle costume when he was 3). Max, at 7 years old, loved Pokemon and wanted to be Trainer Ash Kethum for Halloween. I put together this quick and easy Homemade Pokemon Trainer Ash Kethum Costume and thought I'd share it with you.
I took an old red baseball cap and stenciled the circle and half moon in the front and painted it with yellow craft paint. I also had a pair of Spongebob gloves that were black and yellow so I just cut off the finger tips.
He wore a long-sleeve white t-shirt, blue cargo pants, blue down vest from Old Navy that he already owned. I only had to purchased a plush Pokemon over sized pillow that I pinned to the back of the vest.
