Coolest Homemade Marge Simpson Costume

I am a HUGE Simpson’s fan and make a Simpson costume every year but this year’s homemade Marge Simpson costume was by far my favourite and the coolest ever!

The hair is chicken wire and cotton batting for quilting. I hot-glued the batting to the frame and lined the inside with black fabric. I also made a pocket inside the hair because Marge is always pulling stuff out of her hair, so I didn’t need to carry a purse all night! I spray-painted the hair blue.

The necklace is made of ping-pong balls, painted orange and strung on stretchy string.

I made the dress from jersey. I bought white material and dyed it. I had to mix green and yellow dyes together and do a couple of tests to get the color right. You can’t see my shoes but they are spray-painted orange.

I decided to make an eye-mask for the face. I used foam balls, cut in half, with black felt for the pupils. I attached a stick to the side for easy masquerading!

Needless to say, I won the costume contest.
