Coolest Homemade Buzz Lightyear Costume
This is the Homemade Buzz Lightyear Costume I made for my son for Halloween of 2009.
white A-line undershirt
hot glue gun and sticks
neon/lime green ribbon
clear film (from over head projector)
Buzz Light figure (very useful as a “model”)
card board box
I followed the figurine and I found this VERY helpful. I built/created Buzz’s main top part on an A-line under shirt that was worn over a long sleeve white shirt. Foam Board and hot glue sticks were used through out out the costume. Additional ribbon was added to the pants to cover-up a rainbow print-it was very difficult to find plain white pants. I added floral wire to the bottom of the pants to get more the the “boot-cut/space pant” look.
The black belt was made out of fabric that I already had on hand and it was just tied around his waist. The wings were made out of a cake box and covered with the foam board and ribbon. The costume was embellished with ribbon and red bead/ball for the laser. The wings were attached with Velcro for easy removal for car-seat purposes. The helmet was made of paper mache and painted with purple paint. It was lined with foam board for more comfort and a clear shield was added (over head projector film) with brass fasteners.
