Homemade Michael Jackson Costume

Ever since the death of Michael Jackson, I knew that I would dress up as him for Halloween. I already have naturally curly hair. My sister bought some silver gloves from a flea market. I just took some short black dress pants and made them even shorter and started with my Homemade Michael Jackson Costume.

After numerous trips to Goodwill, I finally gave up on the fact that I was not going to find a black sequincy blazer. So, I had to buy a costume jacket. It was an XL so I had to bring it in a bit. I then bought some big sunglasses from Goodwill. Really they could have passed as Elvis's. Hummmm, that is an idea for next year.

Anyways, I bought a plastic fedora from a costume store and dyed my hair black. DO NOT FORGET THE WHITE SOCKS. It would have been better with sequins. I am a woman and I really don't look like Michael Jackson, so that morning I quickly made a black face mask. I cut up a black tank top I had. I made a square and hot glued the straps to the sides, so that I could hook it around my ears.

I had so many people taking my picture. I actually had someone stop me while I was eating my lunch, to take my picture. On the way into the restaurant people were honking at me. GOOD TIMES!

This is a Homemade Michael Jackson Thriller Unique Halloween Costume Idea. I took a real leather jacket and cut it up and even took it to my job and dragged it through concrete and dirt. I took a long brown wig and cut it to the right length and sprayed oil sheen and black color spray and let it sit for a day. I couldn't find the right latex so I just took something close to it and glue it to my face and used a little toilet paper too.

I also took some 80's slouch cotton ankle socks and slid them down to make the thick affect. I used a combination of brown and zombie green body paint for my arms and painted my finger nails faded black. For my face I used a black base and used zombie green and brown and kept the protruding bone structure lighter than the rest. I used loafers that I already had which I purchased from Suit Mart. I also dragged my pants through the street and stomped them a little. I bought some dental non toxic tooth stain to make my real teeth look rotten.

There you have it... Michael Jackson returns a year later.

Dope costume man. For Halloween I want to dress exactly like this. Where did you get that exact Thriller jacket? Also what paint did you use for the face and the arms? LOVE this costume.

I am so lucky to have awesome kids that love Michael Jackson as much as I do! My son told me he wanted to be the King of Pop and I was thrilled!!

This homemade Michael Jackson costume was one of the easiest costumes to put together.

We tracked down some black dress pants he had out grown, added a white button up long sleeve dress shirt and a plain with t-shirt and some black dress shoes that we already had at home. We bought some aviator glasses and the black fedora hat.

I could not find a sparkly glove anywhere. I ended up buying a pair of ladies gloves that went all the way up to the elbow and I just cut it down to fit like a regular glove. I was able to use the scraps of the glove to use over his socks. It turned out perfect!

We had tons of compliments and my son was the only Michael Jackson we saw. This is by far my favorite costume we've ever put together!
