Homemade Venkman and Zuul from Ghostbusters Costume
I have never bought a costume. My fiance and I are die hard movie buffs and it seems hard to come up with a good his and her costume. A year before that we dressed up as our "alter egos" a rich man and wife from the 40s. Sadly is seems like adults we know tend to not get into Halloween so we have missed several opportunities to dress up.
We both love Ghostbusters so a last minute decision lead us to Venkman and Zuul from Ghostbusters Costume. It looks like my costume was just a bag, but trust me, a lot more went into it. From the movie you can see that her dress was actually two layers and not just flowy orange. I have been other movie characters and I strive on accuracy and haven't used a pattern. The dress was "liquid gold" fabric with a sheer warm orange overlay.
Peter was supposed to be in a flight suit and not a standard issue utility pair of coveralls, but no one but me noticed. The patches were easily found on eBay, but the proton pack, that's another story. Sadly, I don't have a picture of it. We took a black back pack and zip, tied a canned good box to it to where the box actually covered the whole back pack. Glued varies items on, wires, lights and spray painted it all black. Looked AWESOME! Plus in the back pack he had a mini tape player playing the Ghostbusters soundtrack the entire time.
We had a blast!

This Ghost Buster costume took some work, but it turned out really good. My son won our local costume contest.
We first found the coveralls at Goodwill and a military style belt at the army surplus store. Those were the only things we had to buy for the costume.
I used a Ghost Buster web site to get detailed pictures of the items. I printed out the Ghost Busters logo and his last name on iron on material to put on the coveralls.
We just found and made trinkets, switches and buttons, painted them silver and black, and glued them on. He used an old back pack and we painted it and added an old vacuum hose, and some buttons and switches.
The ghost trap is just a painted box with a hose attached and switches added. The "ecto goggles" are and old pair of welding goggles his dad had in the garage. I used a film canister and an M & M Minis canister for the front.
Making this Ghost Buster costume was so much fun and my son was the life of the party. He even had a small player with a speaker playing the "Who ya gonna call??" theme music.

I never really got into dressing up for special occasions such as Halloween or parties until I started college. Well my friends were all excited about the upcoming Halloween and were all dressing up as the Batman villains, and I didn't have an idea for a costume, then it hit me. I had always been a fan of the movies and I decided it was time to get this "Halloween" thing a try. So I made this Ghostbuster Costume.
The Jumpsuit is an authentic ghostbuster uniform (air force flight suit) with costume name patch, all bought separately. The proton pack is a costume made rig, with strobe lights and trailer lights.
Total cost: $75 The memories from that night: Priceless Some things money just cant buy.
Who could forget Ghost Busters, or better yet the Stay Puft Marshmallow man (sent to destroy the earth?).
For my baby's 2nd Halloween I choose to make this Ghost Busterscostume. I bought a white stretchy shirt and stretchy pants and sewed a lining inside so I could stuff with batting. The sailor part of the costume was made with colored felt.
I tried to be as true to the character as possible, with myself being just a novice. I received so many compliments on this particular costume.
