Coolest Homemade Ahsoka Tano Costume

This is my daughter Olivia who is obsessed with Star Wars. She wanted a Homemade Ahsoka Tano Costume for Halloween. Of course she couldn’t pick the easy Princess Leia.

So the costume is basically a white leotard dyed using brown orange and red Rit Dye to make the Terra Cotta skin tone. Then I sewed a little tube top and skirt out of a silky knit fabric. I used a jean skirt to outline a pattern for skirt and just measured her chest to know how wide to make tube top. I then cut out of vinyl a belt, belt buckle, leg covers (boots) and arm bands. to hold pieces together I used no sew sticky Velcro. I got a purple Microfiber fabric and cut the shape for front thing and colored it using a paint pen.

Now the hat, I used my wig head for the base to mold Crayola magic mold to get the shape of head piece then when dried (very light weight like Styrofoam) I then used newspaper and Mod Podge to cover it. Let it dry and painted it.

This was actually one of the easiest costumes I have done just not last min. due to letting head piece dry before painting. She loved it and I think it turned out adorable!

  1. We have 7-yr-old triplets (2 boys, 1 girl) and they are also crazy for Star Wars the Clone Wars. Recently they unitedly decided to spend their allowance on three costumes so they can role play in full dress.

After reading the reviews about the store-bought version of Ahsoka and finding a few web sites with instructions, I ultimately decided to give it a try on my own after reading your post. You made it sound so easy, but I still have my reservations. Time will tell…..Thank you for posting your experience making that adorable costume. You did a great job!
