Our son Luke has Menkes Disease. It’s a rare fatal disorder that means he can’t walk or talk. He can’t sit upright without support of his wheelchair. The wheelchair makes it hard to go trick or treating. This year dad decided to make the chair part of the costume.
A cardboard wardrobe box was cut to shape and LED flashlights were added for headlights. A coat of paint, some cardboard fins and the yellow Bat logo finish the job. Luke enjoyed the attention he got. Many other little kids dressed as super heroes called out versions of “Cool!”. His little brother was Superman so together they were the World’s Finest. But as their parents we knew that a long time ago.
