My daughter absolutely loves Labyrinth. I grew up watching the movie myself, so it’s been such a joy to share it with her—and to dance around the house together to David Bowie’s songs. The night before Boo at the Zoo, she suddenly declared that she had to be David Bowie.
With less than 20 minutes before the thrift store closed, I went into full Goblin King mode: I grabbed a women’s shirt, a little boy’s vest, and even a pillowcase, determined to make it happen. The crystal ball? A dollar store ornament. The gloves? Just a pair of socks. And the wig—well, it was on its last leg until I took some scissors to it and gave it new life.
The result? Pure magic. She transformed into her very own Goblin King, and seeing her embody a character we both love so much was worth every frantic thrift-store dash.
