I got this One Eyed One Horned Flying Purple People Eater Costume idea from the song, obviously. It was a hit, although some people didn't know what it was which boggled my mind.

I bought the dress from Forever 21, but any purple dress, or purple attire will work for this. I also purchased purple fishnet stockings from there just to keep warm!

The horn and eyeball are styrofoam cone and ball from Joann Fabrics. I wrapped the cone in purple felt and hot glued it to the cone. I then cut black felt to resemble eye lashes and hot glued them to the eye. I also adhered a "googly" eye to the front of the ball, and painted the back of it black.

I bought a pair of butterfly-like wings (but any type would work... maybe something more like bat wings?) and used purple acrylic paint to give it a twist and make it work better with the costume.

The tail was made out of purple shag material. I cut out a pattern that looked like a dragons' tail over something that would be an animal tail because I thought it looked more interesting. I stuffed it and just attached it to my dress with large safety pins (the perks of being a college student haha!)

*For make up I bought purple and black fake eyelashes and used purple eyeshadow. Nothing too crazy since the costume pretty much spoke for itself.

Hope you enjoy the One Eyed One Horned Flying Purple People Eater Costume! I had a lot of fun making it and got a lot of compliments on it as well.

Homemade Purple People Eater Costume

Homemade Purple People Eater Costume

My daughter came up with the idea of a Purple People Eater Costume. To make this costume I paper mached a punching ballon for the head, we used newspaper and painted it purple when it dried. I cut a hole in the center for the eye, hot glued a black piece of tulle on the inside. No-one could see in but my daughter could see out. I tried to use the flour and water mixture but found that the ballon deflated and the paper mache caved in. After doing some reserch online I found that liquid starch works well.

For the horn we used an old viking hat with removable horns that I found at a garage sale. The hair is cheerleading pom poms my kids got from homecoming. Cut the bottom out of an round laundry basket throw a purple adult shirt over it and you got a body. I then attached the head to the basket using zip ties. I also zip tied the wings to the back of the basket. For the feet we used crocs with purple socks over them and stuffed the toe area with poly fill. She won Most Original Costume at a campground we went to.

Homemade Purple People Eater Costume

Homemade Purple People Eater Costume

This Homemade Purple People Eater Costume was pretty simple to make. I bought a viking hat and removed one horn. I glued a purple boa on to it and wore it sideways on my head so the one horn was facing front. I made the one eye out of craft foam sheets and glued it to a purple mask.

For the wings I used four tulip shaped felt cutouts that I found at the Dollar Tree. I glued them together to make my wings. I decorated them with glitter a sequins. I bought some purple eyelash material, so it had a shinny furry like appearance. Cut a hole for the neck and the sewed the ends on either side together to make arm holes. I then glued feather to shoes to make my feet. I wore purple stockings and a purple boa to cover my neck.

For this costume I used a bowl for the eye, I attached it to fake purple fur, which I stuffed with a pillow. To the eye I added eyelashes, and a iris. I made fangs out of foam, I then attached a fake hand, and some gel blood. The horn was foam, a big foam football hat, wrapped in black duct tape. I added some wings, and viola, I became a one eyed, one horned, flying, purple people eater.
