We're all characters from Super Mario! All were handmade(except for Peach)! This was an incredible time consuming, sometimes hard project, but definitely worth it!
In order, to make the Super Mario Bros Halloween costume we have:
Toadstool- Ethan Donkey Kong- Steve Daisy- Alicia Mario- Damien Peach- Kelly Wario- Mike Yoshi-Melissa Luigi-Nick
Each costume was made using felt and then hand sewn. The costumes were made every weekend for about 5 hours so in total it took around 15-20 hours to complete these. The hardest to make was by far Yoshi.
His head is made of cardboard with the felt over top. The shell and tail were made into a backpack which fit over the shoulders. This was done for more movement in the tail. Luigi, Mario, and Mario were fairly easy to make with the exception of Luigi's hat which was handmade. Toadstools hat (my favorite) was not too difficult and was also made using cardboard with felt over top with the addition of a very large amount of stuffing.
These costumes were quite inexpensive. To make Yoshi,Mario,Luigi, and toadstool it cost around $60. That includes needles, thread, and scissors. You could buy only one costume at that price so in all quite inexpensive. We hope you enjoy our costumes as much as we do!

My boyfriend and his son were Mario and Luigi for Halloween. I bought the Luigi clothes from Wall-mart.
I bought the Mario clothes from a childrens thrift store. I bought the hats from Wall-mart. They already owned the shoes, and the gloves were free from Albertson's photo department. The hats were also from Wall-Mart. Luigi's hat was a child's hat. I looked all over town (eight stores to be exact) for a plain green hat for an adult and nowhere to be found so he just wore the kid's one.
I hand stitched the "M" on the Mario hat and painted the "L" on the Luigi hat with fabric paint. I drew the mustaches on their faces with my eyeliner.
Overall's...already had ( $20.00) Red Sweater....already had ($15.00) Brown Boots...already had ( 25.00) White mittens ($1.00) Red winter hat ($3.00) Face make up ($2.00) Yellow, Red, and White foam paper ($1.00 each) Pins($1.00)
I cut the foam paper to make the buttons and the white circle and the "M" for the hat.
Total time to prepare this Mario Halloween costume was less than half an hour, impatient 3 year old time...days.
Cost on Halloween day was a total of $10.00 and my son was the talk of the neighborhood!!
I made this Mario Halloween costume for my son using blue cotton fabric, yellow and white felt, an old red cap, an old red sweatshirt and some white cotton marching band gloves that were my daughter's. I spent less than $5. I didn't use a pattern to make the overalls, which made it a bit difficult, but I think they came out okay. We just drew on the mustache, because we couldn't find a stick-on one anywhere.
Everyone loved it, boys kept shouting out "hey, there's Mario!"
