My son’s school doesn’t do Halloween parades but character parades instead. The costume has to be based on a character in a book (it helps if the kid himself decides on a book character he likes!). In the early years my son picked his costume then we would find a book.
This year he picked the book then the costume -‘Cloudy and a Chance of Meatballs’ by Judi Barrett. As I wanted to go as something with my son, I went as the plate of spaghetti and meatballs, complete with cloth napkin and utensils, while my son was the scientist.
I made my Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs Halloween Costume out of table-cloth fabric, yarn, Styrofoam, paint, white felt for the plate and lots of spray glue.
