Cool Homemade Yo Gabba Gabba Plex Robot Costume

I had a lady ask me if I could make her granddaughter a unique costume this year because last year she had seen my daughter’s Starbucks costume and loved it! So she requested I make a Yo Gabba Gabba Plex the robot costume.

I started off with a large cardboard box. I formed a circle around my body for measurements. I hot glued a wire hanger to the inside of the cardboard box and then I cut out two arm holes. I took some more cardboard and fit it on my head to form a square. I cut out a square in the center of the head part, and hot glued on some of the black fabric you use in the garden to control the weeds. (It was the only black fabric and I could actually see through.)

I cut out two eyes from felt and colored on the black pupils. I took two tissue rolls for the ears and also used cardboard for the top of the head. I covered the ears and head in foil and glued on an old red toy that’s squishy.  I covered all the cardboard with yellow felt I got on clearance for only $1.80!!

I made the hands and feet from cardboard as well, and foil for the arms and legs. I made the arms and legs by taking an old shirt and pants and simply hot glueing on some foil. I had to do about 5 layers of foil so it doesn’t rip when you walk around with it on. Everyone loved it!

She wore it to a bunco costume party and won first place. It is very easy to move around in and works out perfectly! Everyone knew exactly what it was right away, and that’s always a good thing. LOL. I am super happy with how it turned out.

It took about 3 days to make and about $4.00 to build!
