I thought it was high time for a unique and totally different Halloween costume. So, this year I created my Sharktopus costume - half shark, half octopus! It was a big hit!
I once saw a movie on Sci-Fi titled Sharktopus. Sci Fi geeks out there might remember it! Anyway, it inspired my Sharktopus Halloween Costume.
I decided to start off making a half body shark costume. It's made of fleece and carefully designed to replicate the look of a great white shark. The back fin is 3-d. The arms are made into fins which adds to the coolness of it!
The head is a separate piece. It's made with rows of white, felt teeth. Carefully designed to match the razor sharp teeth of the great white. The eyes are made of an applique that is a couple of layers deep. This adds to the realism. I did some sculpting around the eye, it gave it some great depth!!
From there, it was time to create the "topus" side of the costume. For this, I drew out some different shapes for the tentacles. I finally decided on these, diamond shaped. I cut them out, different colors for different sides. I'm all about giving my costume pieces definition. I made pink suction cups for each tentacle and appliqued them onto the tentacles.
I think it turned out just fabulous!! I hope you do too. There's nothing like a mutant creature for Halloween!
I've always loved the pink panther and thought it would be a really fun and creative Halloween costume. I searched online for some ready-made costumes, but found them all to be pretty lame, so I decided to put together my own.
For this homemade sexy Pink Panther costume I purchased a pink leotard, pink tights, pink fingerless gloves, a black bow-tie, and a top-hat style fedora. I sewed a fuzzy white belly onto the leotard and the perfect pink tail that I was able to find online. I also sewed some of the fuzzy white fabric around the gloves. I threw on some pink earrings, black and white loafer style pumps, and carried around a cane (I had a great black and white one but lost it on Halloween so the one pictured is a broom handle :)) and a cigarette holder.
For the makeup I painted a pink nose and whiskers and topped it off with lots of yellow eye shadow and bright pink lipstick (and pink nail polish, of course).
I also borrowed my roommate's perfect trench coat, since I was going for the pink panther "detective" look.
This homemade sexy Pink Panther costume was a lot of fun and I was surprised at how many people recognized me!

Homemade Princess Bride Buttercup and Westley Couple Costume
This is a story of how she got the guy. My sister has always been a little shy about dating guys she thinks are super awesome. She finally got asked to the Famous Couples Costume Dance by a guy that she really liked. She needed a perfect costume. I was there :D
We chose a Princess Bride Buttercup and Westley Couple Costume because it is Hannah's favorite movie...and the character's fit the people really well. With Hannah, she had a golden dress that was very "princess-y" and we curled her hair and I put ringlets of gold ribbon in it.
David came up with his own costume. With help from the Goodwill he found black boots and clothes and cut a black bandana from some fabric. He made the gloves out of duct tape and the effect was perfect.
Needless to say, they are a seamless Buttercup and Westley and are still madly in love to this day.
This Duct Tape RoboCop Costume was a last minute costume. All I had was duct tape and cardboard and this is what I can up with. The hardest part was making the helmet with a visor. I ended up cutting apart an old pair of sun glasses.
The best part of the costume was yelling RoboCop quotes at people, “Dead or alive, you're coming with me...” or “Stop or there will be trouble.”
