One day I was watching music videos and I saw the lil wayne lollipop video. I thought that it would be fun to try and become lil wayne for the night. So after watching the video I gathered things together for the Lil Wayne Costume. First I took brown face paint and put it all over my face and one hand. then I applied a dark powder make up I found in the cosmetic section at Walmart. I used a marker to try and do some face tattoos that he has. I wore a white dress shirt with a suit jacket, slacks and a glove.
I took some red fabric I got at hobby lobby to make the handkerchief. the longest part of all of this was the dreads. I got a cheap wig from the costume store that wasn't very real looking. Then I took little strands one by one and started rolling them with hair putty. The process took about 6 hours but looked like real dreads. I finished it off with glasses, a bottle of champagne and lollipops.
I made this Homemade Queen Elizabeth I Costume for a costume party at work. The crown is made out of wire and paper mache with fake pearls and jewels hot glued onto it. The wisk is coat hangers covered in fabric and the rest of the costume is made of fabric. The front of the bodice is a triangle piece of cardboard that I covered in fabric and then decorated and attached to the front to give it a stiff look. The bum roll I made out of canvas cloth stuffed with cotton and the top layer of the skirt can be lifted off to allow for easier bathroom access.
I have very long red hair, so I was able to make my hair look like the Elizabethan style. I made hair “rats” out of pieces of panty hose stuffed with cotton and wrapped my hair around them in the front. This costume took a lot of fake pearls, which luckily aren’t very expensive. You can get a large container of them cheaply at Michael’s.
Last year I decided to be Amy Lee from the band Evanescence. I tried to recreate her outfit from "Going Under" but it looks like I just ended up wearing things she would on stage. Since I did this Homemade Amy Lee Costume last minute, I couldn't find the proper corset so I had to work around that the best I could. Most of the outfit I already had. My pants were just plan black Tripp "silky" jeans from Hot Topic. I layered two tank tops (black and red) then I put a chained belt across my chest. For the arm pieces I used a bed sheet, dyed it red then I cut it into two pieces and cut it shorter and rubber banned them so they'd stay on. I carried around a microphone for added effect.
My two roommates and I decided to dress up as the Beastie Boys in their Intergalactic video for Halloween. This Homemade Beastie Boys Costume was really inexpensive and a smash hit.
We got white painter suits, safety goggles, and rubber gloves from the hardwear store. We used yellow and black spray paint to paint the safety vests on. To make the ghetto blaster we just used a sharpie and drew it on a beer box that we opened up and taped back together inside out.
We used orange spray paint to add the name of the Beastie Boy we were dressing up as on the back.
