A friend and I wanted to do something creative this year for Halloween and we also refuse to pay sixty bucks for costumes that barely cover us! So, we searched around a bit and decided to create the Wonka Nerds candy boxes and wear them as our costume. It took a few trips to Hobby Lobby for lots of poster board, scrap booking paper, sticky letters, tons of mod podge and a few days to get it done.
We added a little sparkle to the costume and used glitter ribbon as the straps to hold the box over our shoulders. Then to accessorize we bought some nerdy glasses and coordinated our outfits to match the colors on the box. As an added bonus we taped a freezer bag filled with mini boxes of nerds on the inside for us to pass around at the party. We were a hit! The best thing we did when putting this all together was using Velcro to connect all of the pieces. This way we could fold it up and bend the sides to make it easier to travel with. It also made it easier to store for another year!
