Coolest Homemade Cat in the Hat and His Vacuum Cleaner Wheelchair Costume

Every Year we find a new way to go out for Halloween and every year I let my son pick what he wants to be. This year he picked “Cat in the Hat”, and then the wheelchair project begins. We decided to put the Cat in the Hat in his crazy vacuum cleaner that he brings out to clean up the room in the original book of the “Cat in the Hat”. W

We started this Homemade Cat in the Hat and His Vacuum Cleaner Wheelchair Costume with on outline of hard cardboard cut and pasted together to fit exactly on top of the wheelchair. Then we affixed layers of foam on top. After layering, we started the process of sanding the foam to give it its shape. We painted the foam with regular laxet paint, we applied appliques that were printed from a printer. We affixed tin cans on three places that we knew we would have to affix the hoses. The hoses are dryer ventilations hoses that took shape. We attached hands and funnel for the front to resemble the vacuum.

Mom and Dad went with “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” attire as did the 2 lbs chiuahuah but we named her “Thing 1/2” cause she was just to small to be a whole thing. There you have it. The “Cat in the Hat”.
