Coolest Aang Avatar The Last Airbender (Cartoon Version) Halloween Costume

My son came to me and wanted a Aang Avatar The Last Airbender (cartoon version) Halloween costume. I downloaded a photograph of Aang holding his flying staff from the Internet. I bought wood, brown spray paint, liquid nails, and 3/4″ small wood nails at Home Depot for the flying staff. I made the top wood pieces to be 36 inches coming off of the main wood piece.

I purchased the fabric from JoAnn Fabrics for the costume using red and beige colored fabric. I purchased medium fusing to put on his collar so that it would stay standing up.

The costume took me approximately 12 hours to make the entire thing. Everything you see in the photographs is handmade by me with the exception of the brown boots which were purchased. I shaved my son’s head and painted his blue arrow on to complete the costume. I took him down the street to the lake to take the photographs.

  1. What a great costume! can you send me regular pictures of this so I can try to replicate it? Great job! We’re giving my son a Last Airbender party and this would be perfect!

  2. That looks amazing… You did a wonderful job.
I was going to make my son an Aang costume with the staff and and a Momo costume for my youngest son, But I’m coming up with the problem of trying to figure out how to get the staff to pop open and what to attach the wings with.

I was just wondering a couple of things though. Do you have a supply list and measurements for the outfit and glider? What components were needed to attach the wings? Does the glider open and close? Did you have to cut all of those pieces of wood the sizes that they are?

I figure if I get started now that I may actually get done in time for Halloween and Comic Con… That and I also have 2 other costumes to do for my daughters…lol… Hopefully we’ll have a full Avatar Group though.

    Sincerely,
    Karen

This is the absolute best Aang costume and accessories I have seen, and that is including the store bought and Cosplay costumes that are online. Perfect color choices and exquisite craftmanship. I must say that you are truely talented and I do want to thank you so much for posting what you made….
