Cool Popcorn Bag Costume for a Girl

This popcorn costume won her first prize at the school costume contest! It was easy…ish!! Except for the burns I got from melting sugar I tried to pour on the popcorn… I wasn’t thinking that day.

This is what you need:

Garden Leaf Bag
White, red and black acrylic paint
Popcorn (or peanut packaging foam)
Hot Glue Gun
Duct tape
…and your thinking cap!!

I sized the bag for my daughter to fit her head and arms. I then cut out those holes and reinforced them with duct tape really well so it doesn’t rip on her. Then I painted the white and red stripes on the bag and painted the word “POPCORN” on the front and bag.

I glued the popcorn on with a hot glue gun. (This was after the melted sugar idea didn’t work…WHO KNEW!!)

For the face paint, I painted popcorn on her face and made a few buns in her hair.

And she was done!

That was in Grade 1, she’s in Grade 8 now and the teachers STILL call her Popcorn.
