Tara E.
Perth, Australia

I was invited to a Hollywood party and I didn't want to go as the usual Marilyn, Cleopatra or Madonna. I always like finding unique Halloween costumes.
The idea of an Oscar award popped into my head and from then on I was on a mission.
By 3pm on the day of the party my costume had still not come together and my friends and family had little faith. But after serious trial and error (and in fact more money than I care to admit) it worked!
So I will share my tips with you hoping it will save you valuable time and $$.
*I spray-painted my clothes with gold metallic paint (the paint will not adhere to material, only vinyl)
*I painted my platform boots with a water-based acrylic art paint.
*Sword from a $2 shop also spray-painted gold
*Don't buy theatre make up and paint your whole face gold as it either cracks or rubs off and is uncomfortable anyway. Gold eye shadow and gold glitter does the trick.
*I have blonde hair so I didn't need to colour it but plenty of glitter gave it a good sparkle.
Good luck!
Total Spent: $50
