I always want to stand out in a crowd and wear something that no other person has, which is why I always make my own clothes and costumes. I designed and created my own Geisha costume by myself from scratch. I wanted to do a unique take on a traditional costume which is why I made the neckline asymmetrical with an attached mandarin collar. I also wanted to geisha “kimono” sleeves to be separate to make the dress a little sexier and different.
I draped the patterns on a dress form and used satin brocade for the dress and stretch satin for the separate sleeves. The dress has a side invisible zipper and a frog closure detail on the mandarin collar. The back has a screen print on nude mesh fabric detail to give the illusion of having a dragon tattoo. I am in love with the finished product, I wish every day was Halloween!
