We planned all year long for this, we went from Goodwill to Goodwill looking for just the right clothes and when we finally pulled this Scooby Doo Gang Ever costume together it was awesome! We got so much attention from kids and adults.
We went to the famous 6th St in Austin and people thought we were celebrities. So many people stopped to get pictures with us and to ask us about our costumes. All the clothes and shoes we wore were from second hand stores and of course we bought wigs. The ascots were make from small pieces of fabric I bought at Wall-Mart and that was pretty much it.
These costumes are super easy to make, but you must have the time to search for just the right colors and fabrics. These costumes are really family friendly and would work at any Halloween or costume party! But be ready to have a swarm of kids following you around asking you where your mystery machine is at.

We decided to go as the Scooby Doo Gang and it turned out pretty good. Our friend who was Scooby put on brown clothes, a long sleeve shirt and brown jogging pants and then we made brown ears from felt. Also, he bought a belt and cut it short and we put a paper tag in the middle with his initials.
Fred, Daphne and Shaggy's clothes were bought at thrift stores and pieced together from clothes they had. Velma's (my) costume was the set from the store, however the socks were from Target and the shoes.
Our friend was the monster we unmasked "Old Man Smithers." He bought an old man's mask and put a monster mask over it so we could unmask him.
We got so many compliments for our Scooby Doo Halloween costume!
My boyfriend and I, along with his little sister and a couple of our friends, wanted to get together and do Halloween costumes as a group. Due to our love for Scooby-Doo, we decided be “the gang.” All of the outfits of this Scooby Doo Gang Group Costume were put together using clothes we found at various Goodwill stores.
As for the Mystery Machine, we cut it out of cardboard and painted it. It was relatively simple to create, but a whole lot of fun to enjoy! Coincidentally, I have a chocolate lab named Scrappy, so we took her around with us for the night! It was a big hit at the parties around town!
In this photo my son Michael is dressed as Scooby Doo and my daughter Heidi is dressed as Daphne. Michael is sitting in a hand-crafted Mystery Machine. My husband cut out the wood and painted it the base color. My daughter drew the orange flowers and I did the words, which my Michael helped color in.
They were attached to our wagon with zip-ties. They are surrounded by some of their Scooby collection. Some items shown are the lunch box, suit case, quilts, towels, stuffed animals, and book bag.
This Homemade Scooby Doo Halloween Costume was a wonderful family project.
For the clothing of the Homemade Scooby Doo Character Costumes we went round second hand stores to find things that could be suitable. But Velmas skirt was initially floor length! So we took that up, and then found some bright stockings at a department store and voila!
