This Homemade Rubik's Cube Halloween Costume was hard work but I am certainly pleased with the end result! I used the black poster board and formed three rectangular boxes. The bottom layer had no base but had four right angle corners leaving enough room for me to fit into it. It was held up on my shoulders by suspenders that I made out of string. This bottom piece acted as the base and the next two layers rested upon this foundation.
The middle section had enough room to fit my body but also had four right angle corners; so when it was spun it looked real and had no gaps. The top layer then rested upon the middle and had a missing “piece” from the cube to fit my head. I then cut colored construction paper into identical squares and glued them on. The middle and top layer were able to be spun as the rested on the bottom layer. This was just like a real Rubik’s cube only easier to solve!
I made this costume out of the following: Hard black poster board Construction paper Lots and lots of tape Thick string Nails Exacto knife Scissors Glue

Looking for a costume for the ultimate smarty? Be a Rubik’s cube! Basically, this is just a variation on a box costume, so it is super easy to make.
-Either 3 boxes that when stacked together make a cubic shape or enough cardboard to make your own boxes that fit this description -Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple paper -Some awesome big glasses -Black paper to cover the cardboard
The hardest part about this costume is making the boxes. I created my own by cutting cardboard to a good size and taping the pieces together to make the boxes in the exact right size. This was a bit tedious, but once that was done, the rest was a breeze.
I covered the cardboard with black paper using double sided sticky tape. I covered the top and bottom as well but left room so that I could fit in the middle.
Then, I just cut out squares of color and glued those on to the black and ta-dah! That’s it!

I love the 1980's and knew I wanted to be a Rubik's cube so my mom and I made this fun Homemade Rubik's Cube Costume.
I bought a roll of duct tape for each color in the cube and got a box. Then I covered the squares with the duct tape and, after that, with vinyl, which I cut from a shower-curtain liner, to make the cube look like plastic (more toylike). Next I used black electrical tape to outline the box.
We used black elastic to make the suspenders because I knew I didn't want to be confined to arm holes! I used a headband and covered it with duct tape squares and vinyl as well. My mom crocheted the awesome leg warmers!
