Homemade Lieutenant Dangle Halloween Costume

I love the show Reno 911 and had the idea of going as Lieutenant Jim Dangle this year. As I looked around for various costumes on the internet, I didn't find any that were up to par in my book. I am a college student who has never taken any kind of home-ec class in the past but for this year, I had to learn how to sew.

I bought pants and made them short and a long sleeve shirt and made it a shortsleeve. All of the dark brown accents were added by me as well as all of the patches. I made a real looking duty belt from some items around the house and even used permanent hair-dye to pull the costume together.

This was by far my best costume up-to-date simply because of the fact that it was so well received. I was in Walmart doing a test run of the costume before I went to the Halloween parties a few days later. While in Walmart, at one point I was being applauded by the people around me in the checkout line. I had so much fun with this Homemade Lieutenant Dangle Halloween Costume and never once broke character the entire night.

As soon as I walked out of the door that evening to go to the party I left Jeff behind and was now Lieutenant Jim Dangle of the Reno Sherriff's Department, Reno NV.

Coolest Reno 911 Costume 3

Deputy Johnson from Reno 911

Deputy Johnson from Reno 911

In 2005 I dressed up as Deputy Clementine Johnson from Reno 911. I purchased as real "Security Guard" brown polyester uniform online and added brown stripes to the pant legs and the pocket flaps on the shirt. My pants ended up being too small in the waist, but that was perfect for a Clemie costume! I wish I had taken the shirt in, because then you could see more of my cleavage.

Using scrap booking materials, I created a "Reno Sheriff's Department" patch for my left arm and a "Deputy Johnson" name tag. I bought a toy Sheriff's badge, baton, and plastic gun.

A shoulder length blond wig with bangs were teased and pink aviator sunglasses completed the look! This photo is me with my boyfriend, Buckethead.

Homemade Lt. Dangle and Deputy Johnson Couple Costume

My boyfriend TJ and I, his girlfriend Sarah, wanted something funny and attention-grabbing for Halloween 2009. What is better than ridiculously short shorts on a guy like Dangle and a short skirt with an unbuttoned shirt on a deputy like Johnson!

It was so much fun planning our homemade Lt. Dangle and Deputy Johnson Couple costume. When the night came to wear them, we had so many compliments and, even people we didn't know, wanted pictures with us. We were told that we actually looked a lot like the real actors.

Homemade DIY Lt. Dangle Halloween Costume

The blonde in my hair doesn't show up good in the picture. The DIY Lt. Dangle Halloween Costume was a success. Every detail is there. The belt and accessories are real, I actually used to work with the police in my city so that stuff came in handy.

I think there is a pretty good likeness for me, my dad actually looks just like Thomas Lennon, even the mustache. He doesn't like the show too much cause he knows he looks like him, ha ha ha.
