Homemade Treasure Troll Pregnant Costume

Since I am 8 and a half months pregnant, I wanted a costume that would highlight my belly. I suddenly remembered the cute little big-bellied dolls I had as a kid: Treasure Trolls!

For this Homemade Treasure Troll Pregnant Costume I bought a pink troll wig online. It came with a purple heart gem on the hair part, which I did not like, so I covered the gem by hot-gluing fake diamonds onto it. I kept the heart shape but just changed the color.

I cut a heart out of a piece of skin-colored felt. I chose felt because it moved and lay better on my round belly than paper. I hot-glued all different sizes of fake diamonds until the heart was completely covered. I used double sided tape to attach the heart treasure to my belly.

Being pregnant and wanting to be comfortable, I wore a pink maternity sweat suit with just a sports bra underneath. I attached earrings to my fake troll ears, put on hot pink eyeshadow and lipstick and even wore pink contact lenses!

Coolest Expecting Barbie and Daddy-to-Be Ken Costume 38

Halloween 2011 - Expecting Barbie and Ken

Halloween 2011 - Expecting Barbie and Ken

My husband and I just found out we were expecting a baby the first week of October 2011. We decided we wanted to announce our big news around Halloween with original Halloween costumes. I have always been a big fan of Barbie so I thought making a Barbie and Ken couple costume would be fun! So, we came up with, "Expecting Barbie" and "Daddy-to-Be Ken".

We received many complements on them, and everyone thought they were a great way to share our big announcement!

The costumes were made with 2 wardrobe sized boxes which we wrapped, on the inside and the outside, with wrapping paper. I cut handles into the inside of mine so I could hold it up, while my husband was just able to hold his by the bottom. We then printed out the writing we needed to decorate the boxes. Barbie was finished off with some belly "stuffing" and a wig, and Ken was completed with a Baby's Daddy t-shirt?.

Homemade Pregnancy Costume

Homemade Pregnancy Costume

I was hugely pregnant for Halloween 2009 so I wore an evening gown, tiara, and a sash that said "Mrs. Da Pill".

Everyone thought this Pregnancy Costume was pretty funny and original. I even won a costume contest that night with it!

Homemade Expecting (Pregnant) Barbie Costume

I decided to make my Halloween Costume this year since, being 7 months pregnant, there wasn't much out there for me to buy. Being a natural brunette, I couldn't think of anything more fun than a Homemade Expecting (Pregnant) Barbie Costume!

Cool costume...How did you get logo and font for box

Cute idea!

You can probably do a google image search for those parts, and just blow them up in photoshop, or if that doesn't work, dafont.com has a lot of fonts you can download for free. I found the Winnie the Pooh font I needed last year there.

Pregnant Barbie

Hello,
My daughter had the idea (which I think is brill) and was making some headway in converting her own Barbie. We thought we'd just have a look online, and we found you and your costume. Your costume is just fabulous, superb. Keep up the good work :D
All the best,
Yasmine, Nathan :)
