We’re all that and a bag of chips!

The idea sparked in 2003 when the group of us was a bagged lunch. The plain UTZ chips were such a hit we decided to make a “snack pack” of bags and created this homemade bags of potato chips group Halloween costume.

We started with cotton fabric (colors of the bag) and sewed the sides, hemmed the bottom and the top. We scanned a picture of the UTZ girl and created a stencil and used felt to cut her out. We also use large font print to create stencils for the lettering. We used felt to make the chips. Once everything was cut out we hot glued it all onto the bag.

We then took Velcro and hot glued it to the top of the bags so that we can close the top of the bag. The girls sported cool wigs with crazy bows and red and green cheeks. *Note, the sour cream chips have added green jewels to create the look of sour cream and onion. We use red spray paint on yellow felt to create the red hot & BBQ chips.

Coolest Homemade Can of Pringles Costume

Homemade Can of Pringles Costume

My costume is a Homemade Can of Pringles Costume. My face is the face of the Pringles man. I made this costume by using two Styrofoam circles as a top and bottom, connected by poster board to create a stable cylindrical shape. I left a slit in the back open so I could get in and out.

Once the skeleton of the piece was established, I wrapped the whole thing in red paper, making the arm and face holes in the appropriate places. Then, using marker and construction paper, I drew out the design of the Pringles logo by looking at a picture of it on the computer. I made a mustache and a bowtie to go along with it. I then put on red leggings and a red long sleeve shirt and climbed into my costume.

Maneuvering myself through parties was difficult, but definitely worth it. Once you pop, the fun doesn’t stop!

Homemade Pringles Can Halloween Costume

I made this Homemade Pringles Can Halloween Costume for my daughter. This is made from poster board and tape. I used 2 red poster boards for the sides and taped them together.

The top is also made from poster board and covered with aluminum foil. I drew the face and letters onto poster board, colored and cut out. I drew the Nutrition Label on the back. There is also a bar code!!

I plan to use your idea for PURIM, for my son.
Thanks for the tips.
Question - what did you do at the bottom of the costume? is it all open bellow? meaning, can you walk freely? Thank you! Alli and Michael.
