My boyfriend and I always like trying to make slightly more interesting couples costumes. This year we decided on a homemade Poison Ivy adult couple Halloween costume idea. The ingredients for creating the seductive super-villainess are as follows:

* Green Leotards (preferably a darker shade of green), $15-20 on Amazon.com
* Fake Leaves - can be bought at any craft store for very cheap. Stapled to the border of the leotards using a mini-stapler.
* Tights (couldn't find light green tights so used fishnets), $5 at Spencers
* Long Gloves (Bought WHITE gloves and then dyed them green)... use less dye than what the package called (to make them pale green). Gloves purchased at Claire's (price unknown)
* Green Fabric Dye at a craft store ($3)
* Red Wig, $15 at Party City
* Boots (not seen in picture). Already owned tall boots (about upper calf level) and simply rolled dark green tights over top them. Dark green tights/boot covering were $3 at Party City (IF YOU DON'T HAVE BOOTS: While Poison Ivy is pictured wearing boots she is also portrayed wearing some sexy green or black stilettos. Personally, I found boots more comfortable to walk around in all night).
* Make Up, LOTS of green eye shadow.
* Red lipstick (that I didn't put on until later - when I realized I wasn't wearing any)

SUMMARY: Overall this homemade Poison Ivy adult couple Halloween costume idea is a very fun and easy costume to make. I think the total amount of money spent was about $40 dollars (a good deal since online costumes are $50+), but making it yourself allows you to customize it however you like.

Homemade Poison Ivy and Joker Couple Costume

We decided on a Homemade Poison Ivy and Joker couple costume for Halloween, and of course I don't buy costumes, the fun about costumes is making them!

For the Joker, we got used clothes from thrift stores and cut and dyed them to be what we wanted! As for the makeup we did it ourselves based off the movie!

For Poison Ivy, I bought a one-piece body suit shown here, but I glued each piece of ivy on by hand covering the one piece. I made the cape from scratch using green fabric and ivy bought from a craft store.

For the makeup, I made myself as glowy orange as I could, based off the movie! I made the ivy eyebrows out of makeup, giving me the plant look! For my hair I just used spray dye and stuck some ivy in my hair. the spray made my hair kind of unmanageable, but I thought it worked out great!

When we made our homemade Poison Ivy and Joker couple costumes, we knew we couldn't make them half good they had to be as good as the movies! These outfits are totally handmade and original, you will never find outfits like these anywhere else! No one even realized it was us under all the makeup and dye!

This year for Halloween I wanted to do something cool that I didn't see very many people doing; so my roommate and I decided to be sexy superhero villains. Trying to figure out how I was going to make this Homemade Poison Ivy Halloween Costume Idea, I found an old white skirt and a corset. I thought about dying them green and adding fake ivy leaves, but I heard that dye would not work if you were using man-made fabric. I then decided that I was going to spray paint them green (from Wal-Mart) and then I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a fake vine of leaves.

After the spray paint, I individually cut the leaves off and hot glued each one onto the corset. Then I bought gold spray glitter, red hair spray, fake eyelashes, and face paint from Wal-Mart. I sprayed my hair red, curled it, sprayed the glitter all over me, and used the face paint for my eye make-up.

It was easy and everyone LOVED it!!
