Lennon is our 7 mo. old German Shepherd. He is a good sport and loves to dress up...
Process: I went to the thrift shop and purchased red material for my cape and skirt, ribbons from dollar store and wicker basket also from thrift store for $1. Lennon's bed dress is a La Senza night shirt with the sleeves cut off to make his bonnet with the lace. He also is wearing a pair of round granny glasses which is didn't even mind wearing!! Amazing.
Woodsman (my hubbie)- old cap, plaid shirt he had in his closet. The plastic axe bought at the Dollar store.
The props: Home Sweet Home I typed up and put in a thrift shop frame. Doily on the window ledge and pictures I had here at my house.... Quilt I also had from my real grandmother.
It's all in fun and we had a great time setting up the scene and took many pictures to get the best ones.
Picture taken by my son with our Iphone 4.
Cheers Cindy C.

Homemade Dog Costume - Knight and his Horse
I thought of the idea of a Dog Costume - Knight and his Horse for Halloween. It worked out just great cause a dog’s body is almost like a horse. I just had to come up with how I was going to make her (Mia) look like one. So this is what I did and she won the 2009 Halloween contest at Petsmart and contest at Petco. MIA was very good with the costume. I had been dressing Mia since she was a little puppy.
I got a black piece of material, cut out the horse shoes out of felt and hot glued them on. The real trick was coming up with making the knight. I got a sock monkey and cut his tail off and sewed the opening. My friend got some cardboard and made the armor, and the leg armor was paper towel rolls. After putting the whole thing together I was really amazed at how good she looked.
My dog Kano is a great dane/akita mix, which means he is tall and weighs 135lbs. Needless to say, you can’t find very many 5XL dog costumes for sale (even online) so every year I have to make him one. I always liked seeing the little dogs in banana costumes, but I figured a really big banana would be cute, too!
The Homemade Dog Banana Costume is made out of fleece, with strips of velcro on the undercarriage and on the tail (the “stem”) to keep it from slipping off his back, and the peeled back sections were secured with hot glue. Everyone loved the giant banana!
My Chihuahua Booker hates costumes and clothes. He puts up with me making him dress up every year. Anyone who knows him waits to see what he will be.
The Chalupa “shell” is made from thick flannel, and the meat was brown ribbon. The cheese and the lettuce were also ribbons by the yard. This was the cutest Homemade Chihuahua Chalupa Costume ever and he wore it for one whole hour. It went over his head and was attached at the tummy with a small piece of elastic.
This is my adopted (senior) boxer, Pearl. Our local Dogtopia (doggy daycare and boarding) has a yearly dog Howl-o-ween Costume Contest and this Homemade Canine Dr Frank-N-Furter Costume was Pearl's entry for Halloween 2009. She ended up winning the local competition and went on to the national competition! Pearl's make-up was done by me, by hand (turns out halloween make-up doesn't wash off white dog too easily), as was her costume.

Echo, our Boston terrier, is dressed as a scuba diver. Her homemade costume was made from two aluminum spray bottles with the tops of soda bottles. A tire gauge was used with some surgical tubing for a depth gauge. Finally Her fins, mask and snorkel were taken from a scuba Cabbage Patch doll that was just the perfect size, the trick was finding two sets of them... thank you eBay!
