I couldn't find an owl costume to fit my newborn so I made one! I sewed feathers on the arms and around the neck of a white onesie and put her in white tights with little brown ballet slippers built-in (from the Gap). I then took a white cap (the onesie and the cap were old hand-me-downs from my son) and sewed/fabric glued white feathers onto the front.
I cut the head off of a plastic owl (from the local craft store) and glued that on top of the hat- it was very lightweight. I then took a big basket that I already had and weaved twigs and leaves into it (my four year old helped me gather the supplies on a walk). It was a huge hit! You know it's a great costume when other parents are taking photos of your baby!
Total Spent: $30
