Homemade Caterpillar Costume

This Homemade Caterpillar Costume was all material purchased and hand made to fit my little caterpillar. It was made to slip on over the head with the back part being stuffed with cotton batting and the stripes were a tan fuzzy material added to give it the fuzzy appeal.

For the hat I took a black beanie hat and sewed it onto it the green hood that was separate from the rest of the costume and had Velcro under the chin to keep it in place. Add some pipe cleaners for antennas, black strips on the body for legs and your done.

The cutest part was watching her walk and her little body wiggled. Its a nice warm costume for all those northern trick or treaters and was loved by everyone. Have fun and enjoy.

Crazy Caterpillar Costume

I wanted to make my little girl a fun and funky caterpillar costume, so I sewed bright donut shaped pillows out of fun fur with elastic bands on the top and bottom of each one. Then I attached them to each other with tights sticking out in between stuffed with stuffing. Her legs and arms were sticking out so she wore striped tights and a striped turtleneck.

The hat was sewn out of the fun fur again with an elastic band under her chin and around her head, the attena's were dowels with pom poms on top.
The outfit slipped over her head.

Her Daddy was a cocoon and I wore butterfly wings.

Hi, do you have more pictures of this costume? I am planning on being a caterpillar for Halloween, my workplace is doing the Alice in wonderland theme. I love your idea here and would love to see the back of the costume, and other views if possible.

Thank you,
Ann Marie

Would like some more info.

I love this idea and was wondering if you have more pictures and can tell me how you did the green layer on top. I am going to try and make it for my 20 month old, so any extra help would be great. Thanks

What a beautiful caterpillar!

This looks great. My granddaughter is going to be a caterpillar in her school play and I would love to make this for her. Do you have more photos? From the back may be? Any specific advice so that I don't mess it up?

I look forward to your reply and thank you in advance.
