Homemade Trucker Girl and Mud Flap Couple Costume
My wife and I came up with a vision of a "Trucker Girl on a Mud Flap" (you know the little hot silver seductive women on the back of mud flaps). I don't know how it started or came about... but It came out pretty incredible. I am an extremest, I take things over the top. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes not. This time it did.
I painted my wife silver (make sure you do per instructions of body safe material). I went and bought some aluminum diamond plate, and 1/2" lag bolts, and 3/4" rubber mat. I got a picture of a mud flap, and duplicated it. I am the mud flap, and she's the trucker girl. I help the mud flap up with 1/2" electrical conduit that was bent and formed in a v-shape. I strapped the conduit to where an oxygen tank on a scuba B.C. mounts. I drilled 2" deep holes into a 4x6 wood header that was attached with the 1/2" lag bolts @ the top on the mud flap. The 1/2" conduit supported the mud flap. You can see in the photo.
THIS COSTUME IN ONE OF A KIND!!! As far as originality, this one is hard to beat.

I'm an artist living in Austin, TX who spends every September and October working on my kids Halloween costumes. Transformers is the theme this year - again! My daughter wanted a Transformer costume and the only girl-friendly character I could think of is the ice cream truck Transformer from the second movie.
The Homemade Ice Cream Truck Transformer Costume is made of cardboard, hardboard, and toy tires. To get it that old school look, I took off all of the hard edges on the boxes by cutting out the corners and hot gluing the remaining edges to create rounded edges. The front tires are mounted on some hardboard then covered with a piece of a cardboard construction form which is used to pour cement pillars.
The paper mache ice cream cone is attached to the truck with a thick rubber band. This way it can get banged around but it'll just bounce back into place. My favorite elements are the menu that my daughter drew and the springy ice cream cone. Knee pads were a must as she was up and down all day with every transformation.

We receive so many UPS parcels!! My daughter really likes our UPS driver and receiving packages are always exciting. When asking her what she would like to be for Halloween, she said a UPS driver so we made this UPS Delivery Person and Truck Costume. Now, that part was easy. Her friend decided to go along with the theme and built an amazing UPS truck. With cardboard, tape, spray paint, working headlights, rear reflectors, frosted plastic sheets, a copier and a little help from her Dad, the truck was built.
The girls decided to call some of the children in the neighborhood to let them know that the UPS truck was coming around with a special delivery for them and they delivered their holiday presents a little bit early. Every child needed to sign for their package and out it came from the truck. It was so much fun and the girls looked great! The UPS costume was not handmade. The largest size is a Toddler 2-4 but it runs so wide that it fit my 10 year old.

My sister came up with the idea of the Battling Beauty Queens and we all loved it. First we went to thrift stores and found gowns that we would not mind ripping or cutting up. I found temporary tattoos of scrapes and cuts at the costume shop and we used plenty of those and makeup for black eyes etc.
Then we added a sling, bedazzled eye patch, knife in the back, neck brace, bandages with fake blood, broken crown, wig with large section cut off (which another beauty queen carried around, while the one with the missing hair carried a missing section of dress) and of course or homemade sashes (Miss Behavior, Miss Conduct, Miss Chievous and Miss Demeanor).
We won best costume at the contest and it was a very fun night. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to apply all of the tattoos, bandages and makeup as the process takes some time.
For a costume party this year I decided to go as a Homemade Interstate 35 Halloween Costume.
I already had a plain black leotard to use as the base of the costume. I bought some yellow duct tape and cut them into small rectangles for the lines in the road. I painted on the white dashes with some white acrylic paint. I printed off the interstate sign and colored it in with marker.
I attached the cars with little squares of Velcro that I purchased at the store. I finished the costume by taping the interstate sign on a gold chain and making a little hat with white and yellow tape.
This costume was cheap and easy to make and everybody at the party loved it!
