Homemade Toaster Costume

I was making a piece of bread in the morning, tired, getting ready for school, when I burned myself on my toaster. Ouch! But then it occurred to me what a great costume a toaster would make.

This is made mainly with a box, so finding the right size was the hardest part for me. I finally went to an appliance store and the owners gave me a box.

The next hardest part was making the bread. I made the bread out of two pieces of cardboard with Styrofoam in the middle. I Painted the outsides so that they would look more like bread.

Covering the box with white plastic fabric was a breeze. Then I took aluminum foil and attached that to the top to make it look more realistic.

Finally I found an old extension cord and tapped that on the inside where the tape couldn’t be seen.

For my hair I put way too much hairspray and paint and messed it up the best I could to look like I was being fried. I think it came out pretty well.

This was for an assembly for my school, so I wrote my class “2009” on the bread and popped the bread up whenever my class won something.

Coolest Red Nose Day 2011 Comic Relief Costume

Homemade Red Nose Day 2011 Comic Relief Costume

My son's school was allowed to wear something red for school to raise money for Comic relief and I thought rather than wear something red he could go dressed as a Red Nose Day 2011 Comic Relief Costume!

I started by hand sewing 2 pillows together then putting them inside a man's red t-shirt. I sewed the bottom of the t-shirt to the neck, up through the middle, to make it red on the inside too, I then printed a photo of a recent "red nose" off the internet. I cut up an old white t-shirt to make the various pieces and attached them using "No Sew" glue and then used an Italic pen to highlight it.

The costume only took me 2 hours to make. It went down a storm in the yard!

This costume was made for my granddaughter Harley for one of her beauty pageants. She is three years old and love to go around saluting so we decided to make her a salior and she would be able to wear her outfit for halloween. To make it look just right we did in fact purchase the hat but the rest was all had made be me.
