Homemade Mystique

This is what you need for your Homemade Mystique costume: Blue Paint, Plastic Circles from Walmart, nose and scar wax, adhesive, red hair spray, orange contacts, unitard, and glue.

My costume took 12 hours over the course of 4 days, I molded the wax into circles, squares, and rolled it in to long thin strands for the features of her face.

Then I cut up the circles and bent them into points for her body scales. I also used the excess from the cut up circles for extra scales.

I used a hot glue gun and bumped it in different areas for more texture and I put a darker blue paint on the unitard.

From there I just painted the part of my body that you could see blue, sprayed my hair red and added the orange contacts

It was a great fun project and we had a blast!

For my homemade Mystique costume, I bought a blue unitard after deciding that it was too cold where I live to use body paint or liquid latex.

I cut scale-shaped pieces out of some shiny blue fabric I bought and used liquid latex to glue them onto the suit. I also painted the suit to simulate scales. For the foot protection, I cut flip-flops to the shape of the soles of my feet and glued them onto my costume, using liquid latex. I painted the flip-flops to match my outfit.

I molded scales for my face out of a mixture of liquid latex and acrylic paint. I used liquid latex to glue them onto my face. I then painted my face blue, put yellow contacts in, slicked back my hair, and sprayed it orange.

I died my hair from platinum blonde to my natural auburn hair color for my mother's 50th birthday. I decided to do a costume with red hair this year. After going thru so many ideas I decided to try to make the homemade Mystique costume.

I used a liquid shiny blue and made a unitard with a back zipper from no pattern to fit my body exactly but not too tightly. I then stuffed the costume with towels and sheets, and encrusted the costume with lace overlay. I then added glitter and puff paint and more glitter. I also bought a plain craft mask and treated it the same and overlayed all the fabrics til it matched the costume and 'voila', I had a matching mask. I am very happy with the result.

This homemade Mystique Halloween costume idea took about a month to do.

1st I bought a full bodysuit, liquid latex, yellow contacts, casting, clay spray paint, blue and black face paint and red hair spray.

Steps:

1- I traced my body out on poster paper.
2- drew on all the Mystique shapes.
3- covered all the shapes with the clay.
4- covered the whole thing in casting to make the mold.
5- then I covered the mold with liquid latex let it dry and pulled it off.
6- glued the latex to the suit, then painted it blue..
