Homemade Nanny McPhee Halloween Costume Idea

Homemade Nanny McPhee Halloween Costume Idea

We went to see Nanny McPhee Returns at the movies and afterwards my 4 year old daughter said 'that is who I want to be for Halloween!'. I was so glad that she didn't want to be a princess or a fairy again so I got right to work on this homemade Nanny McPhee Halloween costume idea.

I went to the thrift shop and found a black skirt, black turtleneck, and a black shawl. I found a derby hat at a party store and I hot glued ribbon to it so it could tie below her chin. I bought a black feather to stick into the side of the hat. I bought a gray wig through a costume store online. Found a set of fake teeth at the dollar store and cut off all but one tooth. Also purchased a black crow for her to tote around. We just happened to have a cane around the house so my husband cut it down to fit her size.

To finish it all off I drew brown moles on her face with a brown eyeliner.

Coolest Neo from the Matrix Costume

Homemade Neo from the Matrix Costume

Homemade Neo from the Matrix Costume

For this Neo from the Matrix costume, you'll need to raid you closet and possibly some of your area thrift stores to make this costume. The good thing is that black is very forgiving so texture and fabric are versatile.

You will need a black pair of pants, a long sleeved black shirt, a black pair of boots,( I didn't have black boots so we spray painted some tan boots black! ha ha ha) a long black leather coat, rain coat will work (again black spray paint works well), some black party spray for the hair and a nice pair or black shades to finish off the look!

I think the costume will work on many levels and the best part about it is that you will be warm on a cold fall night!

Good luck and I hope every one tries this look out it is really fun to pretend you are a super hero - especially one as cool as NEO!

Coolest Homemade Selene from Underworld Costume

Homemade Selene from Underworld Costume

I have always loved Selene from Underworld and noticed there was really no cool options out there. So dug out an old corset I had from back in the day that had buckles on it. Since I was sort of a dark teen I had some old knee high boots from high school that just rocked the costume more.

To achieve the blue crystal eyes she dawn in the film I invested in some Halloween contacts from a local Halloween vision store near me. I found a PVC catsuit at an old vintage store and a black wig to complete the get up. I ordered a set of moldable vampire teeth. A BOOM, I was the kick bum chick that rocked underworld. Hope you all like this Selene from Underworld Costume.

The outfit for this costume is wonderfully executed, but the hair and makeup are absolutely horrendous...not accurate (or even appealing) whatsoever..!

Brilliant

Coolest Homemade Jack Burton Halloween Costume Idea

Homemade Jack Burton Halloween Costume Idea

Homemade Jack Burton Halloween Costume Idea

This Homemade Jack Burton Halloween Costume Idea is from Big Trouble In Little China. I ordered the Tanktop online a while ago. All you need are some tight jeans and Moccasin boots. The knife and gun are a much needed accessory to complete the costume. Had I known I was going to be Jack Burton, I would have grown a Mullet out. You can get a Mullet wig, but nothing I could find looked good. The best way is to grow your hair out.
