Coolest Mileena MK2 Costume

For this Halloween, my girlfriend and I decided to dress up as Sub Zero and Mileena from Mortal Kombat II. I basically knew that I wanted the costume to look like Sub Zero in the 2nd game, and she was up for doing Mileena.

Sub Zero Costume:
- Cheap Balaclava from Amazon
- Cheap airsoft mask with goggles from eBay
- dimpled fabric from JoAnn's
- Badding from Joann's
- thick black sewing thread
- white bike pads from Amazon
- white costume contacts
- black gloves
- black sports tape
- black Nike workout shirt
- black pants

I taped some paper together and draped it over my shoulders to come up with the right shoulder size. After getting the paper cut, I laid it out on the bedding material (cushiony cotton like fabric) and cut it to size x 2. I then sewed the blue cloth over it and followed up with 2 rectangles for the front and back, and a waist strap. All were sewn together and then pinned in the back.

I spray painted the mask after removing the goggles, and did the same for the bike pads, putting newspaper in the holes, and around the black edges.

The white contacts really made the costume pop. I even had a small speaker playing the Mortal Kombat music when I walked into a party.

Mileena MK2 Costume:
- purple leotard
- plastic sais
- purple opera gloves
- black fabric
- purple fabric with doctor's mask

Mileena was much easier. Just sewed a black sash, and wrapped purple fabric around the doctor's mask, made a headband, and she was ready to go.

Coolest Homemade Scorpion Costume 18

Homemade Scorpion Costume

Homemade Scorpion Costume

This is my take on the original Scorpion Costume from the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat. I had been looking for a version of the original costume all over Southern California and no costume stores carry the adult version.

The yellow tunic and belt were sewn from quilted yellow fabric and the borders are black bias tape sewn along the edge and the shoulders as well. The mask is a wire mesh paintball design that was purchased from eBay and covered in the same quilted yellow fabric. The pants are from an authentic Ninja gi as are the tabi boots, gauntlets and the hood. The black leather belt and skull belt buckle were purchased from eBay. The body armor is youth soccer shin guards for the arms and adult soccer shin guards for the legs. They were painted using Krylon Yellow spray paint designed specifically for plastic.

This Homemade Scorpion Costume would not have come together as well as it did if it it were not for the sewing skills of my lovely and talented wife, Dena.

I made this Homemade Mortal Kombat Sub Zero Costume over a period of a couple months, utilizing Ebay and Amazon to order the various parts. The tabards were made out of canvas fabric and sewn with a sewing machine. The armor is made of soccer shin guards that I painted with the same blue color as the tabards. The mask is a modified paint ball mask and the gloves were studded gloves purchased from a Halloween store and modified. I added the mortal kombat symbol to them as well.

The balaclava and Ninja suit I purchased from Ebay and the swords I got from a Halloween store and spray painted to look like ice. I'm also wearing scuba booties and a black scarf as the belt.

Homemade Sub Zero Costume

Homemade Sub Zero Costume

For this homemade Sub Zero costume I used some Pleather and a ninja suit with Tabi boots. This costume took me about 7 full days of work to complete. I have never sewn anything before in my life, I pretty much just watched that show 'How It's Made' enough and picked up on how to sew from there.

The contacts are just some Blue/white contacts. That was another first for me, I never wore contacts before. They really hurt!!! And I'm holding some blue photons. I would 'shoot' people with ice blasts. A lot of people liked my costume, but they said I looked scary. I guess it was the contacts that did it.
