Our sons are infatuated with Michael Jackson and his music. When asked what they wanted to be for Halloween, our younger son immediately yelled, “Michael Jackson!” Not too pleased with the store-bought varieties, we decided to make our own Homemade Little Michael Jackson Costume. So, we started out the suit our oldest son wore in our wedding to create a Michael Jackson during his famous Billy Jean performance costume for our younger son. Since I cannot sew at all, I bought stitch witchery and used that to turn the lapels inward, shorten the sleeves, and to iron on white ribbon on to the pant legs. He borrowed older brother's white under shirt (which I used stitch witchery to make into a v-neck), and used the black dress shoes from the wedding, as well.

The wig, glove, and glitter socks were all purchased from a Halloween store, as was the fedora. We then slapped a little baby powder on his face, added mascara, eyeliner and a bit of red lipstick. Voila! Michael Jackson ready to moonwalk to Billy Jean!

Coolest Ola Ray from Michael Jackson's Thriller Costume 17

Homemade Ola Ray from Michael Jackson's Thriller Costume

Michael Jackson is my absolute favorite artist of all time. Thriller is an iconic song for the Halloween season. So I took a slightly different angle for the typical "Thriller" based costume...Ola Ray! Here is how I made my Homemade Ola Ray from Michael Jackson's Thriller Costume.

I found the blue leopard bodysuit and the jean jacket at my local thrift store. To the jacket, I added the blue leopard paneling and blue cuffs, by getting some cheap blue fabric from Walmart and using black paint & a leopard stencil. I just added my own red tank top and red shoes, plus got a curly wig from the costume shop and that's it!

And please note my custom made Thriller purse. Found the red purse at the thrift store as well, and added strips of black pleather with a glue gun, to make it look like the Thriller jacket.

In our family, we celebrate Purim, a Jewish holiday. We dress up every year, always something different, something new. We put it together ourselves, and work weeks and weeks to make sure everything is perfect. This past year, Michael Jackson passed on, and being a big fan of his work, we decided to dedicate our costumes to a Homemade Michael Jackson Family Themed Costume. We decided to do Michael at his different stages, changes in his life.

We did the most present Michael (light skin, long band jacket, etc.). We did Michael from his “Beat It” days, in fact the actual outfit from that particular music video (red jacket). We had Michael from Billie Jean (glittery glove, fedora hat), we even hit Michael’s early years from The Jackson 5.

(Please realize and excuse that some of the pictures include other costumes, not part of our theme.)

With all of the Michael Jackson talk in the news, we decided to pay tribute to the King of Pop. We used a spray painted recycling can with mailbox lettering as a bottle of propofol and pieced together different clothing for MJ. Most of it was already in my closet, so I just needed the Fedora, glitter glove, aviators, and some scrunchy socks.

The toughest part was the makeup, to make your face like the the infamous, plastic surgery modified one. On the back of the bottle (not shown), we produced a "warning: may cause" list of the potential side effects and played off Michael's well-known news stories:

- Molestation
- Endangering a baby's life
- Flammable hair
- Grabbing the genitals
- Going to Neverland
- Screaming out "EEE-HHEEE!!
- Skin depigmentation
- Death

It probably only cost about 30 bucks for both.

MJ thriller jacket was made from an old winter coat, red duct tape, and black electrical tape.

Basically I just covered the entire coat strip by strip with red duct tape then added the details with the black electrical tape added red skinny jeans cuffed up to show white socks and black sneakers. Finished off the Michael Jackson Thriller Costume with my little bro gelling his hair in curls.
