Homemade Happy Meal Costume

A McDonald's Happy Meal is probably my son's favorite treat, and it is what we chose for his costume this year. He really loves it as you can see by the smile on his face.

Honestly, all the materials I used were items we had around the house, so the total cost for this costume was $0.

I completely cut the bottom out of a pretty large size box. Then I carefully cut off the two shorter top flaps. I covered the outside of the box with red construction paper attached with glue.

For the handles we cut two pieces of construction paper and glued one on the front and one on the back. Next we cut out and glued on the golden arches decoration to make it a real Happy Meal.

To hold the costume on, I used some strips of red felt that was left over from a previous project and hot-glued them to the inside front and back of the box.

This costume was very quick and easy to make. It would even be a good project for a child to help with.

Coolest Grimace from McDonald's Costume

Homemade Grimace from McDonald's Costume

I've always wanted to make a Halloween costume from one of the McDonald's characters. It took me awhile but I settled on a Grimace from McDonald's Costume. As I was making the costume, I decided to add a twist to the costume and made him Grimace's cousin from Mexico, Pedro.

So I fitted him with a sombrero hat and all. I bought the fabric from a local fabric store and put it all together in one day. I'll admit, before I began, I had my doubts, but I pulled it off. Underneath, I designed it with two circular wires where the smaller of the two had straps so it could rest on my shoulders.

Then I wrapped two layers of fabric around the two wires like a cone. Between the two fabrics, I stuffed the bottom with pillow stuffing to give it a puffy look. Made the arms and legs from foam. The feet were actually puppy dog looking house shoes that I just covered with the purple fabric.

Of course, I couldn't forget the mustache, which was made from some black, shaggy fabric.

Coolest Homemade McDonalds Extra Value Meal Costume 2

Homemade McDonalds Extra Value Meal Costume

As a family we always create a themed costume every year for the Halloween season, and this year (2009) we chose to do a McDonalds theme. The title of our costume is The Mcdonalds Extra Value Meal with the Bag and Fixings. Our Family always tries to do a couple of parades for the fun of it. All of my sisters and our husbands, and kids get together with our families and try to come up with the best costume.

Let me explain how we set up our Homemade McDonalds Extra Value Meal Costume. Every year we use a wagon as a prop. This year the McDonalds bag will be pulled on the wagon with the salt and pepper packets. My youngest daughter will be the ketchup packet. My oldest daughter will be the Cheeseburger, my husband is the soda and I will be in the french fry costume. I hope you enjoy all of our hard work for the Halloween Contest.
