Coolest Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf Costume 4

Little Red and The Big Bad Wolf
It was fall of 2004 and I had built a wolf costume that walked on all fours but still stood about 6 and half feet tall. Using a bike helmet as a base for the head, a lot of cardboard, foam, black fur, and PVC pipe for the front and rear legs, to say the least I was happy with the turn out.
After nearly killing myself walking around in it I figured it was best to disassemble most of it and call it a day. Keeping only the head, I laid the wolf to rest.
Fast forward to 2006. I am having my annual Halloween party and this Sorceress walks in. I have no idea who it is but she instantly has me under here spell. Two years later and we are still together.
While going through some boxes in the basement we came across my wolf head. That has been stored for almost 4 years. I pulled it out, looked at her and say how about being little red?
With in about 2 days she has fabric and a pattern and before I knew it she was Little Red, a good Little Red too, not like you buy at the Halloween shop.
Needless to say I was not going to risk falling again, so I modified the wolf based on Tex Avery cartoons, got a big chain and let the love of my life lead me around by it.
And here we are as Big Bad and Little Red. Her basket plays "Lil' Red Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham & the Paroahs too.
I've done my fair share of homemade costumes, but this has been the best.

Coolest Homemade Grannie Wolf Carrying Little Red Riding Hood Costume 9
by Thao T.
My husband and I came up with the idea of a Grannie Wolf carrying Little Red Riding Hood costume after searching for numerous ideas online, including previous submissions from this website. The original idea was inspired by one of the previous winners: the Mother Carrying a Baby costume. To make it more challenging, we decided to incorporate two people into our costume, thus creating an illusion.
We needed an XXL nightgown, but it was impossible to find one. We decided to make our own gown, and asked our aunt to help sew it for us. We wanted to make the wolf big and tall. To accomplish that, we bought 4x4 blocks, nails, and metal plates at Home Depot and made an 8" platform for my husband to stand on.
Next, we bought polyfil to stuff my tights and create the legs. To make the basket, we used a small to medium-sized box, cut one side, and added velcro to strap it around my hips. The red fabric and the cloak were used to cover our work. A small hole was cut on the front side of the dress for my feet to go through. The most challenging part of our costume was the part where we had to sync our walking patterns.
We bought the wolf mask and gloves for my husband to wear. To make the costume look more realistic, we made a shower cap for him and gave him a pair of reading glasses to wear. A total of twelve hours was spent to make this costume.

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf Costumes
These Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf costumes were created by a family friend and are completely hand made. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year and as a Mom, I look forward to dressing up both my kids. This was taken October 31, 2007.
This year will be even more exciting as the entire family will be dressing up as characters from the Wizard of Oz also made by our family friend.
We look forward to sharing those photos as well.
