This Homemade Lego Man Halloween Costume is by far our favorite. My husband is so handy. He created the Lego man head, from an idea that we found on the internet. But, we did change it a little to make it our own.
We took a sheet of foam and cut out several circles to have glued one on top of the other. Then he cut out 4 small circle to glue on top. He then hollowed out the stack of foam, after it dried. He then cut out the eye holes. He put a skim coat of drywall putty over it to make it smoother. The drywall putty also, protects the styrofoam from the paint. The paint will try to eat away at the styrofoam. We then painted it with a marigold spray paint. Then, painted the inside of the eyes with black.
We created the hands from a cylinder mail tube. He wore a red sweatshirt that I handpainted the Lego logo onto. We just bought black pants. We made square boots out of cardboard and painted them black. Everyone loved it. The head was the hardest part. It really wasn't that hard. It was real fun to create.

Homemade Lego Men Group Halloween Costume
We wanted to do a really original costume and found one of a Lego man head on the internet. But there were no instructions so went ahead and made our own Homemade Lego Men Group Halloween Costume.
We bought several sheets of Styrofoam and cut out circles with smaller circles cut inside them and stacked them up with glue and broken coat hangers put through them for support. We then sanded the outside with a fine sand paper and a file to get the smooth rounded surface. We used some of the excess foam to make the top notch on the head.
We brought a Lego man down to a local d.i.y store and matched the yellow and painted on the head. The inside is lined with duct tape to stop you breathing in bits of foam. The major set back is you cant really see with it on.
The bodies are just card board boxes painted with the same paint and muscles drawn on.
My 8 year old wanted to be a Lego Mini Figure for Halloween but most of the online instructions were too complicated, so we decided to make our own Homemade Lego Mini Figure Costume.
The costume was made from lots of duct tape, a lot of cardboard, foam, some spackling paste, some mesh, Styrofoam, batting, regular foam, etc. It took a lot of cutting and shaping but we were pleased with the end result.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to walk, hear and breathe and he had almost no visibility but my children understand they must suffer for their art. The bonus was that all the teenagers asked to have their picture taken with him. I have only asked that he visit me in the nursing home in later years. I will have T-shirts made with this picture on them and wear them until I die. (okay, not really but it sounded good).

Growing up everyone played with Legos, what better way to admire our childhood toys than to be them. It was a glorious time. A lot of work went into this Homemade Lego Men Group Costume but they turned out to be awesome!
Lots of cardboard, some paint, some conduit tube, yellow neopreem for the hands and tons of patience.
One is a mechanic. One is a Farmer. One is a James Bond and the other is a football player. They were horrible to walk in but we had a blast!
