After watching the Dark Knight in the Summer of 2008 I knew exactly what I wanted to be, The Joker. What I did first for this Homemade Joker Costume was buy the trench coat. Luckily I found it at Hot Topic. It was about $60. Then I bought red, white, and black makeup at party city, any makeup works. I also found the shirt, tie, and socks at hot topic. I had some leather gloves that I spray painted purple. The black dress pants and the shoes I already had.
Now for the scars, I bought a scarring liquid online called Rigid Collodion. I applied about 7 layers of this to make the scars look good. I take no credit for this scarring idea though, I got it from YouTube. After carefully studying the Joker pictures online I think I was able to pull the makeup off. OH! Few last things tips. The vest my mom helped me make because buying a good vest online was expensive. So just buy some cheap fabric and try making it yourself. Also try wearing a suit coat underneath. It makes your shoulders look broader and it looks more like the heath ledger joker. If you notice the Heath Ledger Joker is also wearing a suit jacket under the trench coat. For my hair I just put gel on and spray painted it green.
Overall I spent about $100 on this costume. I hope this was helpful and good luck to all of you Joker fans out there. Now you know how I got these scars!
I thought of this homemade Joker costume on the day of Halloween, someone had the same costume as me and I was watching Batman the Dark Night just before I found out so I went out to town and got a couple of things together and here it is lol.
I started off with the sexy nurse's costume and yes trust me I got some funny looks when I picked it up and was waiting in line to pay for it lol, with the nurse outfit I got the hat and the stockings which wasn't cheap lol, then I got the face paint and some wax for the scars on my cheeks. My girlfriends brother did all the makeup and the scars for me and I think it turned out quite alright.
People tend to come up to you much more as well, especially wearing a nurse outfit they tend to think your funny and just up for a laugh and that's what it's all about really - just having a bit of fun and getting your groove on at parties lol.
Well I hope you like my freaky costume and I can't wait to send in my next one, I'm thinking Pennywise the Clown off the film "IT" this year, lol...
This is my version of the Joker from the movie - 'The Dark Knight'. These pictures were taken in a discotheque near my home at carneval 2010.
My family helped me with making the suit, and the mask including the hairs are 100% made by myself in front of the mirror. The complete homemade Joker TDK costume needs about 2 hours to get ready to go.
It's a big hit everytime! I hope you`ll like it :)
This is my homemade Joker costume. I got most of the items at the goodwill and dyed them purple. It was heavy and hot wearing a real overcoat inside of places. The hair is mine. And the scars are prosthetic.
