In Australia we don’t really celebrate Halloween but that does not mean we don’t enjoy a good occasion to dress up! On our annual family camping holiday we decided to spice things up with a costume party. The only rule was that it has to be made of cardboard (so we could burn it on the fire at the end of the long weekend). I came up with a few ideas but the one I ran with was an iPod Costume.
I had plenty of gloss paint in the shed and got a cardboard box from work. I worked hard to ensure the proportions where right and then went a little bit further by purchasing speakers for my ipod which I had under my costume so that I could blast music from my costume.
All in all the costume was a success and at the end of the weekend the costume (with all it’s high gloss paint) burnt REALLY well!
For Halloween, we really wanted to do homemade costumes with which we could have a larger group wear. We knew we would be going to one of the biggest parties on campus, and needed to think of something creative and fun, yet functional. After hours of brainstorming, we spotted our idea- iPods!
To make them, we simply bought different colored pillowcases. These pillowcases were then cut, had elastic fed through, and then tied to fit our bodies in dress form. The screen was created on a computer and printed out on regular computer paper (we all picked our own songs). The scroll button was simply a paper plate with center cut out, and buttons drawn on with marker.
The Homemade iPod Group Costume was a huge hit at the party!
