REAL WORKING Homemade iPhone and Headphone Couple Costume!! Complete with speaker that played music from the face mask.
Made from 3 pieces of 4" thick foam glued together and then sculpted with an electric turkey shaver. Foam was then covered with duct tape for strength and then painted white.
Exactly a 1:30 ratio replica of a Right Headphone. A flat kitchen strainer bought from a kitchen utility store in China Town as the face mask made it very easy to walk and and visibility was great! A hidden speaker behind the face mask let music blare out of the headphone and the party followed the music.
Matching iPhone costume was constructed from scratch out of cardboard with plexi glass as the front cover. Each individual APP was personally designed on PowerPoint to scale and hand applied to the costume. Complete with headphone jack so that the costumes could be connected together. No detail was overlooked and iPhone had a "to scale" apple symbol on the back WITH mock "engraving" reading:
"Put your male connector in my female connector and we will make music together"
Copious amounts of tin foil were obviously sacrificed.
The whole point of my Homemade iPhone Costume is to look awesome but still be able to wear it all year round. All it is is a T-Shirt with other clothing I wear on a daily basis and it's easy and gets great feedback!
How I made it: -Get a plain black T-Shirt and some iron-on paper for black clothing (available at any office supply store) and glow-in-the-dark, white or silver fabric paint -Go on google images and find the largest size picture of each app you want to use, plus an image of a battery -Print out each image about 3.5"x3.5" onto the iron-on paper (test it on normal paper first) -Follow the instructions on the iron-on package and iron each app wherever you want (I recommend using a ruler for spacing) -At the bottom, use fabric paint to paint a circle button with a small square in the middle and the AT&T or Verizon bars in the upper left corner -Add a pair of glasses to be a "smart phone" and some white headphones. Then wear it with whatever else you want!
This Homemade Sexy iPhone Costume was made for the Halloween right after the iPhone came out...so everyone was obsessed with the fact that I HAD an iPhone. So what better than to acknowledge it even more and BE an iPhone!
To make the body I just sewed a piece of black fabric to a piece of silver fabric (on the back). The buttons are individual squares of fabric that I decorated with the different icon designs with puff paint, then sewed onto the front. I also used puff paint for all the things on the top of the "screen".
Everyone was loving on the costume all night long. Not only that but I got to use the pick-up line "It's all touchscreen, baby!", all night long.
