I wanted to be hello kitty! I looked everywhere for a cute costume, then decided to make my own homemade Hello Kitty costume. I used a balloon *the large one with the rubber band*. Blew it up as big as I could, and paper mached it. I did 4 layers. It took awhile to dry. After that I cut a hole for my head and the nose for my eyes. I used wire hangers for the ears. I paper mached the ears, then paper mached them to the head.

I used a two white towels for the fur. I cut it into smaller pieces so it would lay on the head right (applied with hot glue). I used dry wall tape for the nose because it has small holes in it. Then I spray painted it yellow.

I had an old fury pink hat, that I just tied in the middle areas to make into a big bow.

They eyes and whiskers are pieces of the white towel spray painted black also hot glued! *you could use a black towel*

Thanks for the idea

I used your idea for my 6 year old daughter's costume. I was able to find a cat head balloon for the paper mache so I didn't have to build the ears. She loves it.

Really hot inside??

My 3 year old daughter decided that she wanted to be Hello Kitty for Halloween and I decided to go for "Mom of the Year" and making her a Homemade Hello Kitty Costume! I started by sculpting the head shape out of high density foam. I used an electric knife to cut the foam. Next I sewed a fuzzy white cover to fit. I used a small amount of doll/toy stuffing to fill in the ears and round out the cover to give it a very smooth face.

I made a "breathing and vision" section out of sheer white fabric to show a finished look. I attached the eyes, nose and whiskers next. The final step was to sew and attach the green bow to match Hello Kitty's dress. Her outfit is a white pair of tights, a white turtleneck, a simple green dress and a pair of white gloves.

My daughter is so excited to go trick or treating and show it off at her preschool Halloween party!

I wanted to dress up as Hello Kitty for a Childhood memories Halloween party. I found lots of examples of makeup and massive heads, but it didn't look enough like Hello Kitty for me.

So I created this very easy mask for this Homemade Hello Kitty Costume. It's just a big high quality pic of Hello Kitty, which I then printed and glued onto some stiff box cardboard. I then attached elastic to the back of the mask so it didn't show from the front. I tried added eye holes but it ruined the look, so I wore it on the top of my forehead during the night, and just either put my head down or moved the mask for the photos, which looked just like a Hello Kitty sticker over my face.

The kitten paws and dress I already owned, and matched the concept perfectly.
